Richard SILVESTER (1692-?)

and Elizabeth BACKSHALL (c1700-?)

 

Richard Sylvester and Elizabeth Bagshal were my step 7x Great Grandparents.  (Click here to see their place in my pedigree chart.)  They married on 2 February 1723/4 in Edburton, Sussex.  (I believe Backshall would have been the more common spelling.)

Richard Silvester may have been baptised on 27 March 1692 in Botolphs, Sussex, and have been the son of Richard Silvester (c1640-1692) and Mary (?-1695).

Elizabeth Backshall's date and place of birth/baptism are unknown, to me.  She may have been buried on 27 November 1759 in Edburton, but I would think this burial is for the Elizabeth who married Thomas Silverson in 1716 - he would seem to have been buried in Edburton in 1755.

 

Richard Silvester and Elizabeth Backshall had 2 known children:

  1. Richard Sylvester was baptised on 13 March 1725/6 in Edburton.  He married Ann Tree in 1749.  (They have their own page.)

  2. Thomas Silvester was baptised on 5 November 1727 in Edburton.  The baptism register recorded that he was the son of Richard Sylvester and Eliz.
