Nathan Thomas
SILVERSTON (1831-1880)
and Jane Ann EAST (1829-1873)

Nathan
Silverston
and Jane Ann East were married on 28
May 1855 at St. Thomas in Stepney, London. (They were not my direct
ancestors.)
Nathan Thomas
Silverston
was born about 1831 in Denton, Sussex. He was the son of
Richard
Silverstone (1795-?) and
Caroline Louisa Oliver (1801-?).
Nathan was at one point a blacksmith and also a dockyard superintendent of
Sheerness. He died on 13 February 1880 in Sheerness,
Kent and was buried in the Halfway Cemetery in Sheerness. When the
1841 census was recorded he was 10 years old and living with his parents in
Denton.
Jane Ann East
was born about 1829. She died on 12 July 1873 in Sheerness, Kent and
was buried in the Halfway Cemetery.
Nathan Thomas
Silverston and Jane Ann East had 4 known children:

Thomas John Silverston was born
about 1857 in Sheerness. He may have died before the 1901 census was
recorded. Thomas married Ellen Goat on 3 November 1879 in
Minster in Sheppey, Kent. When the 1881 census was recorded the
family were living at 168 High Street, Mile Town, Minster in Sheppey and
Thomas was then a bricklayer's labourer. Ellen was born about 1859
in Sudbury, Suffolk. She died aged 69 years and her death was
registered in the fourth quarter of 1926 in the Shoreditch registration
district. Thomas and Ellen had 7 known children:

Silverston was born in 1881 in Sheerness. When the 1881 census
was recorded he was 2 months old.

Silveston was born at 28 Edward Street in Bethnal Green, London in
1884.

Charley
Silveston was born at 28 Edward Street in 1886.

Lucy
Florence Silveston was born at 28 Edward Street in 1889 (second
quarter). The 1901 census records her name as Floss Silveston
an 11 year old living at home.

Ellen
Silveston was born at 11 Foundry Place in Hoxton, London. When
the 1901 census was recorded, Nelly Silveston was aged 8 years
and living at home. She married Robert Hague in 1913.

Arthur
Silverston was born at 11 Foundry Place in Shoreditch, London in
1896 (third quarter). He was 4 years old and living at home when
the 1901 census was recorded.

Frederick
Silverston was born at 11 Foundry Place in Hoxton, London in 1899.

Rhoda
Silveston was buried on 20 January 1861 at the Halfway Cemetery in
Sheerness.

George
Silverston was born about 1863 in Sheerness. He was buried on 22
October 1910 in Sheerness. George married Ruth Hutton in
1887. She was born about 1866 in Sheerness. The couple had 7
known children by 1901:

Silveston died on 25 June 1887 and was buried at the Halfway
Cemetery in Sheerness.

George Silverston was born about
1888 in Sheerness. He married Emma Scopes. She was
born about 1885/6 in London and died aged 32 years in the third quarter
of 1917 in the Shoreditch registration district.

Henry
William Silverston was born in 1892 in Sheerness (second quarter).
He died on 13 July 1892 and was buried in the Halfway Cemetery in
Sheerness.

Amelia
Silveston was born in 1893 in Sheerness (third quarter). She
died on 18 January 1894 and was buried in the Halfway Cemetery in
Sheerness.

Harold
Silveston was born about 1896 in Sheerness (first quarter).

Ruth
Silverston was born in 1901 in Sheerness (third quarter).

Catherine
Silverston was born about 1867 in Sheerness. Her name was
recorded as Kitty Sylvester in the 1881 census and she was then a
14 year old scholar living with her brother George. As
Kate Olive Silverston she married Albert Deiderick
Lee in the fourth quarter of 1889 in the Holborn registration
district.
