John Sergent and Mary Bland married on 9 December 1744 in
Upper Beeding, Sussex. Another
married Hannah Quinby
on 11 January 1744/5 in Itchingfield, Sussex. (They were not my direct ancestors.)
John Sergent's date and place of birth/baptism are unknown,
Mary Bland's date and place of birth/baptism are unknown,
to me. Might she have been born on 2 December 1711 and baptised on 6
January 1711/2 in Henfield, Sussex, the daughter of John Bland
and Susan? However, a Mary Bland
married John Bates on 7 June 1736 in Nuthurst, and yet
another married William Wilt on 11 July 1749 in Upper

Martha Sargent was baptised on 27 October 1745 in Upper Beeding and
buried there on 19 January 1745/6. Her parents were named as John
and Mary in the baptism register and just John in the burial register.
Ann Sergeant married Thomas Soan by licence on 15 December
1766 in Ashington. She was a spinster of Ashington and he a widower
of Washington. Their marriage licence was issued by the Archdeaconry
of Chichester on 13 December 1766 and recorded that they were both over 21
years old and that he was a husbandman.
Hannah Sergeant married John Mansell by banns on 19 May 1777
in Bramber, Sussex. They were both of Bramber. A
Hannah Sergeant was baptised on 25 February 1753 at St.
Nicholas in Brighton, the daughter of Richard Sergeant
and Elizabeth Sherlock.
Lucy Serjeant was born about 1756. She married Thomas
Parsons by licence on 6 October 1778 in Warminghurst, Sussex.
She was a spinster and he a bachelor and they were both of Warminghurst.
Their marriage licence was issued by the Archdeaconry of Chichester and
recorded that Lucy was a 22 year old spinster and that Thomas was bachelor
and married with the consent of John Parsons. A Lucy
Sergeant was baptised on 2 October 1757 at St. Nicholas in
Brighton, the daughter of Richard Serjeant and
