William SCUTT (1588-1641)

and Alice GREVETT (?-?)

William Scutt and Alice Grevett married on 5 March 1617/8 in Storrington, Sussex.  William may have previously married Elizabeth Boniface on 17 October 1613 in Storrington.

William Skutt was baptised on 28 January 1587/8 in Storrington.  He was the son of William Skutt.  The baptism register named his Godparents as John Burnell, Edward Greene and Joan Bosworth.  He may have been buried on 2 April 1641 in Storrington, if so then he left a will (ref. S. Dean 29).

Alice Grevett's date and place of birth/baptism are unknown, to me.

William Scutt and Alice Grevett had 6 known children:

  1. William Scutt was baptised on 4 October 1618 in Storrington and buried there on 21 October 1621.

  2. Anne Scutt was baptised on 20 May 1621 in Storrington.  She may have married Thomas Humphry on 21 February 1642/3 in Storrington.

  3. Mary Scutt was baptised on 28 December 1623 in Storrington.  She may have married Richard Fielder on 26 January 1643/4 in Storrington.

  4. Joan Scutt was baptised on 19 March 1625/6 in Storrington.

  5. William Scutt was baptised on 30 November 1628 in Storrington and buried there on 39 March 1630.

  6. John Scutt was baptised on 23 October 1631 in Storrington.  He married Denise in about 1654.  (They have their own page.)
