Avis SEARLE (c1665-1694)
and Jane WILSON (c1670-1710)
may have been my 7x Great Grandparents. (Click
here to see their
possible place in my pedigree chart.) They married
on 24 January 1685/6 in Wiggonholt, Sussex. They were both then of
Pulborough. Thomas also married Jane Willson on
30 May 1694 in Pulborough, Sussex.

He was the son of
John Scutt. He may
have been buried on 2 October 1718 in Pulborough.
Avis Searle's date and place of birth/baptism are unknown,
to me. She was buried on 26 January or February 1693/4 in Pulborough
and the burial register recorded that she was Avice, wife
of Thomas Scutt. Might she have been baptised on 10
December 1661 in Lyminster, Sussex, the daughter of Nicholas Searle

Pulborough. A marriage licence was issued on 14 May 1727 by the

I'm not sure if the following is connected in anyway, but a marriage licence
was issued on 29 August 1732 by the Archdeaconry of Chichester in the names
of Bowden Puttock and Avis Scutt. They were both said to
be of Arundel. Surety for the licence was provided by Bowden himself
and John Warning Camp. The marriage took place on 29 August
1732 in Amberley, however, the bride's name was recorded as Alice Scutt.
