Nicholas SAYERS (1767-?)

and Ann PARKS (c1770-?)

Nicholas Sayers and Ann Parks married by banns on 30 October 1792 in Hailsham, Sussex.  He was then of Hurstpierpoint, Sussex and she was of Hailsham.  (They were not my direct ancestors.)

Nicholas Sayers was baptised on 6 March 1767 in Hurstpierpoint, Sussex.  He was the son of William Sayers and Sarah Holland.

Ann Parks date and place of birth/baptism are unknown, to me.

Nicholas Sayers and Ann Parks had 7 known children:

  1. Philip Sayers was baptised on 6 November 1796 in Hurstpierpoint.

Philip married Ann Jenner by banns on 14 February 1830 in Albourne, Sussex.  They were both then of Albourne.

  2. William Sayers was baptised on 30 September 1798 in Hurstpierpoint

  3. Mary Ann Sayers was born on 2 February 1801 and baptised on 22 February 1801 in Hurstpierpoint.  She married William Holder in 1820.  (They have their own page.)

  4. Sarah Sayers was born on 21 August 1803 and baptised on 18 September 1803 in Hurstpierpoint.

Sarah married William Hallaway on 15 February 1824 at St. Mary in the Castle, Hastings, Sussex.  He was then a widower.  He had previously married Martha Moone on 13 November 1815 at St. Clements, Hastings.

William was born about 1796 in Ninfield, Sussex.

When the 1851 census was recorded the couple were living in the High Street, Lydd.  William was then a 56 year old brewer and Sarah was 47.  Also with them on census night was their daughter Emily and 21 year old visitor Harriet Holder.

William and Sarah had the following known (to me) child:

    1. Emily Hallaway was baptised on 28 November 1832 at All Saints in Hastings.  In 1851 she was 18 years old and living with her parents.

  5. Henry Sayers was baptised on 6 June 1813 in Hurstpierpoint.

  6. Caroline Sayers was baptised on 6 October 1816 in Hurstpierpoint.

  7. Charlotte Sayers was baptised on 14 June 1818 in Hurstpierpoint.
