James Sayers and Elizabeth married some time
before 1788. Their first known child was born in West Chiltington, Sussex
and they then settled in Storrington, Sussex. A James Sayers
had married Elizabeth Pennicot on 16 October 1786 in Yapton,
Sussex. Yapton to Storrington is about 15 miles.
James Sayers date and place of birth/baptism are unknown, to
me. He died aged 42 years and was buried on 10 March 1806 in Storrington,
Sussex, therefore, he was born about 1764/5. He was a shoemaker.
Elizabeth's date and place of birth/baptism are unknown, to me.
An Elizabeth Pennicot was baptised on 14 February 1762 in
Yapton,, the daughter of Oliver Pennicot and Mary
As Elizabeth Sayers, widow, she married Luke Butcher
on 13 September 1807 in Storrington. Luke was then a bachelor.
A Luke Butcher was baptised on 13 April 1788 in Thakeham,
Sussex, the son of John Butcher and Sarah Hammond.
