William SAXBY (c1660-1742)

and Elizabeth WICKENS (?-1740)

 

William Saxby and Elizabeth Wickens married on 13 April 1686 in Newick, Sussex.  He was then from Horsted Keynes and she was of Newick.  (They were not my direct ancestors.)  Another William Saxby of Horsted Keynes married Elizabeth Lintot in 1698 and had children baptised in Horsted Keynes between 1699 and 1718.

William Saxby's date and place of birth/baptism are unknown, to me.  He may have been buried in Newick on 19 December 1742 as William Sexby.

Elizabeth Wickens's date and place of birth/baptism are unknown, to me.  She may have been buried in Newick on 13 April 1740 as Elizabeth Sexby.

 

William Saxby and Elizabeth Wickens had 7 known children:

  1. John Saxby was baptised on 29 July 1688 in Newick.  The baptism register noted he was the son of William and Elizabeth.  He was buried on 25 May 1697 in Newick and the burial register noted he was the son of William Saxby.

  2. Dorothy Saxby was baptised on 22 April 1690 in Newick.  The baptism register noted she was the daughter of William and Elizabeth.

    Dorothy may have married Stephen Mannard by banns on 22 April 1718 in Hamsey, Sussex.  He was from Newtimber and she was of Newick.

  3. William Saxby was baptised on 24 April 1692 in Newick.  The baptism register noted he was the son of William and Elizabeth.

  4. Elizabeth Saxby was baptised on 7 October 1694 in Newick.  The baptism register noted she was the daughter of William and Elizabeth.

  5. Henry Saxby was baptised on 18 April 1697 in Newick.  The baptism register noted he was the son of William and Elizabeth.

    Henry may have married Mary Martin by licence on 7 October 1721 in Barcombe, Sussex.  He was then from Newick and she was of Barcombe.

  6. Anne Saxby was baptised on 11 June 1698 in Newick.  The baptism register noted she was the daughter of William and Elizabeth.

  7. Mary Saxby was baptised on 22 July 1701 in Newick.  The baptism register noted she was the daughter of William and Elizabeth.  Mary may have married Edward Norris in 1734.

 

Robert Saxby was buried on 4 May 1694 in Newick.  A Robert Saxby had married Ann Gibbes on 28 April 1674 in Newick.  He was then of Newick and she was from Barcombe.
