Henry Richardson was baptised on 16 June 1776 in Bolney,
Sussex. He was the son of
(1750-1818) and Susanna
King. He died between 1851 and 1861.
Mary Everden was born about 1788 in Cuckfield.
Might she have been the daughter of James Evenden and
Sarah Foster who married on 21 April 1776 in Ditchling,
Sussex? She died between 1861 and 1871.
The 1841 census recorded that a 65 year old Henry Richardson
was living at the Wheat Sheaf in Lower Beeding along with 45 year old
Mary, 13 year old William and 10 year old James.
In 1851 the couple were living in Warninglid Lane, Slaugham. Henry
was 75 years old and gave his place of birth as Bolney. Mary was
63 year old and born in Cuckfield.
The 1861 census records Mary was a 70 year old widow and living with her
son John in Slaugham. They were living next door to the family of
her daughter-in-law Eliza Venn, who had previously
married Mary's son William.

Mary Ann Richardson was baptised on 4 July 1813 in
Frances Richardson was baptised on 17 March 1816 in
Bolney. The baptism register noted that her father was a farmer
Frances married James Scrase on 26 May 1835 in

Edward Scrace was born about 1843 and baptised on 25 March
1849 in Slaugham. In 1851 he was 8 years old and living with
his Uncle Francis Richardson.
Richardson was baptised on 15 February 1818 in Bolney.
The baptism register noted that his father was a labourer.
Francis Richardson was baptised on 28 March 1823 in
Francis married Mary Ann.
Mary Ann was born about 1824 in Essex.
In 1851 the couple were living at 1 Rochester Place, Islington,
Middlesex. He was a 28 year old gardener and she was 27.
Also with them was their 8 year old nephew Edward Scrase
who had been born in Slaugham and 20 year old visitor James
Webster who was an agricultural labourer from Essex.
Matilda Richardson was baptised on 29 January 1826 in
Slaugham. In 1841 she was a 16 year old servant in the home of
Ann Scrase in Slaugham.
Matilda married John Tomsett on 22 June 1844 in

1861 he was an unmarried 34 year old wood dealer and living in Slaugham,
where he was the head of his household. His mother and 53 year old
visitor and news reporter, Geeorge Webber, were also
was baptised on 11 October 1829 in Chailey, Sussex. The baptism
register noted that his father was a farmer. William married
