Henry RICHARDSON (1754-1836)

and Elizabeth FIELD (c1757-1843)

Henry Richardson and Elizabeth Field married on 5 June 1783 in Shermanbury, Sussex.  He was then a bachelor and she a spinster.  (They were not my direct ancestors.)

Henry Richardson was baptised on 8 October 1754 in Shermanbury, Sussex.  He was the son of Henry Richardson and Ann Lindfield.  He died aged 81 years and was buried on 5 May 1836 in Cowfold, Sussex.

Elizabeth Field's date and place of birth/baptism are unknown, to me.  She died aged 86 years and was buried on 4 December 1843 in Cowfold.

When the 1841 census was recorded Elizabeth was said to have been 83 years old and she was living in the Old Workhouse in Cowfold.

Henry Richardson and Elizabeth Field had 6 known children:

  1. James Richardson was baptised on 21 December 1783 in Shermanbury.  He married Ann Woolvin in 1808.  (They have their own page.)

  2. Mary Richardson was baptised on 20 February 1791 in Cowfold.

  3. Henry Richardson was baptised on 17 February 1796 in Cowfold.  He died aged 40 years and was buried on 29 June 1836 in Cowfold.

  4. William Richardson was baptised on 23 September 1798 in Cowfold.  He died aged 44 years and was buried on 8 February 1843 in Cowfold.

  5. Michael Richardson was baptised on 26 April 1801 in Cowfold.

Michael married Anne Parsons on 25 October 1825 in West Grinstead.  At the time they were both of West Grinstead.  The witnesses to their marriage were Charles Wadey and Mary Wadey.

When the 1841 census was recorded the couple were living in Sa??ers Cottages in Cowfold.  Michael was then said to have been a 40 year old farm labourer and Ann was 45.  With them was 11 year old Eliza Penfold.

  6. John Richardson was baptised on 11 September 1803 in Cowfold.
