John RESTALL (1759-1816)

and Jane JERMAIN (c1760-1780)

and Sarah (c1762-1848)

John Restall and Jane Jermain may have been my 5x Great Grandparents.  (Click here to see their possible place in my pedigree chart.)  They married on 17 May 1779 in Trotton, Sussex.  He was a bachelor and she a spinster.  The witnesses to their marriage were Elizabeth Jermain and Charles Heather.  John then married Sarah married sometime before or about 1786.

John Restall yeoman of Trotton leased a cottage, garden and 2 small closes of land in Bepton at or near Pitsom Gate, on 15 November 1808.  Another deed of the same date gives that John leased a cottage or dwelling house and garden near Heathland Gate, and a cottage with garden or piece of ground adjoining, both in the common of Bepton.  By 1823 Edmund Sadler of Bepton was inoccupation of those properties.  There is also mention that the cottage and garden near Heathland Gate was formerly in the occupation John Restall, senior but not of John Pearcy, with right to fetch water from spring.
