Thomas REDFORD (c1650-1706)

and Ann (?-1700)

Thomas Redford and Ann were my 8x Great Grandparents.  (Click here to see their place in my pedigree chart.)  They may have married before or about 1677, but no possible marriage has been found in the Sussex Family History Group's marriage index or the IGI.  They raised their family in Wisborough Green, Sussex.

Thomas Redford's date and place of birth/baptism are unknown, to me.  He was buried on 16 February 1705/6 in Wisborough Green.  The burial register noted he was a labourer.  Might he have been baptised on 28 January 1641/2 in Beddington, Surrey, the son of Thomas Redford and Catherine.  However, Beddington to Wisborough Green is about 40 miles and there were other Thomas Redford's who married in Surrey in the 1670's.

Ann's date and place of birth/baptism are unknown, to me.  She was buried on 2 July 1700 in Wisborough Green.  The burial register noted she was the wife of Thomas Redford a labourer.

Thomas Redford and Ann had 7 known children:

  1. Ann Reedford was baptised on 17 February 1677/8 in Wisborough Green.

  2. Mary Readford was baptised on 16 November 1679 in Wisborough Green.

  3. Thomas Reedford, my 7x Great Grandfather, was baptised on 26 November 1682 in Wisborough Green.  He married Sarah Hammond  in 1706.  (They have their own page.)

  4. Jone Redford was baptised on 29 May 1686 in Wisborough Green.

    Joan had the following son:

    1. John Redford was buried on 26 October 1708 in Wisborough Green.  The burial register noted he was the son of Joan Redford by John Seaman of Rudgwick.

  5. Edward Redford was baptised on 15 April 1690 in Wisborough Green.  An Edward Redford was buried on 12 March 1693/4 in Wisborough Green.

  6. Elizabeth Redford was baptised on 14 April 1693 in Wisborough Green.

  7. Catherine Redford was baptised on 24 February 1695/6 in Wisborough Green.  On 22 October 1709 she was apprenticed to John Wade a yeoman of Wisborough Green.  Catherine married Edward Henley on 4 May 1723 in Slinfold, Sussex.
