Samuel REED (c1795-1884)

and Joan LUXON (c1794-1885)

Samuel Reed and Joan Luxon married on 16 March 1822 (ref. 1) at Saint Leonards, Shoreditch, London.  (They were not my direct ancestors.)

Samuel Reed was born about 1795 in Wye, Kent.  He died aged 89 years and his death was registered in the second quarter of 1884 in the East Ashford registration district.

Joan Luxon was born about 1794 in Devon.  She died aged 91 years and her death was registered in the third quarter of 1885 in the East Ashford registration district.

When the 1841 census was recorded the family were living at what looks like Nackholt in Wye.  Samuel's occupation was then recorded as a grazier.  In 1851 they were living at what looks like Nachell Lane in Wye and Samuel was then a farmer of 25 acres.  (On todays map, Naccolt is just under a mile south of the village of Wye.)  Samuel was still farming 25 acres in Wye in 1861 and on census night their 2 yougest daughters and a 7 year old granddaughter, Christianna Reed were living with the couple at Money Tree House.  In 1871 the couple together with 20 year old domestic servant Elizabeth Sacre were living in Nackholt Land and Samuel was then a grazier and land owner.  The couple were living with the family of their daughter Caroline in 1881 at Money Tree House in Wye.
