John RANDAL (c1675-1749)

and Mary HEDGER (1684-?)

 

John Randyl and Mary Hedger were my 6x and 7x Great Grandparents.  (Click here (6x) or here (7x) to see their place in my pedigree chart.)  They married 22 September 1701 at St. Mary's in Guildford, Surrey.  They were both then of Witley, Surrey.

John Randal's date and place of birth/baptism are unknown, to me.  He may have been the son of John Randle (c1640-1723) and Elizabeth White (c1645-1712), who married in Haslemere, Surrey in 1666.  John was buried on 22 October 1749 in Witley, Surrey.

Mary Hedger was baptised on 11 May 1684 in Haslemere.  She was the daughter of Ralph Hedger.

 

John Randal and Mary Hedger 10 known children:

  1. Mary Randal was baptised on 2 September 1703 in Haslemere, at which time her father was a labourer of Witley.  She was buried on 16 February 1705/6 in Witley and her name was recorded as Mary Randoll in the burial register.

  2. Elizabeth Randall was baptised on 9 March 1705/6 in Haslemere, and her father was then a labourer of Witley.  An Elizabeth Randal was buried in Haslemere on 30 January 1712.

  3. John Randal was baptised on 6 May 1708 in Haslemere, and his father was then a labourer of Witley.  John married Mary.  No possible marriage has been found for them in the Surrey marriage index.  They had the following child:

    1. William Randal was baptised on 3 June 1739 in Haslemere at which time his parents were of Frinsom, Surrey.

  4. Ann Randal was baptised on 27 April 1710 in Haslemere and it was recorded in the baptism register that her father was a labourer of Witley.  She had an illegitimate son:

    1. Henry Randal was baptised in June 1734 in Haslemere and it was recorded in the register that he was "base born".

  5. Abraham Randal was baptised on 24 January 1712/3 in Haslemere and his parents were then of Witley.  He was buried on 23 February 1722/3 in Witley and his name was recorded as Abraham Randyl in the burial register.

  6. Mary Randall was baptised on 11 December 1715 in Haslemere and her parents were then of Witley.  As Mary Randal she married Thomas Hardey on 4 January 1742/3 in Haslemere.  They were both of Haslemere.

  7. Sarah Randall was baptised on 1 March 1718/9 in Haslemere, at which time her parents were of Witley.

  8. James Randal, my 5x Great Grandfather, was baptised in February 1722/3 in Haslemere and his parent were from Witley.  He married Elizabeth sometime before or about 1749.  (They have their own page.)

  9. Abraham Randal was baptised in June 1726 in Haslemere and his parents were from Witley.  He died aged 86 years and was buried on 24 August 1811 in Frensham, Surrey.  His name was recorded as Abraham Randel in the burial register.  He married Elizabeth sometime before or about 1751.  No possible marriage has been found for them in the Surrey marriage index.

    Abraham and Elizabeth had 7 known children:

    1. Elizabeth Randall was baptised on 7 February 1750/1 in Haslemere.

    2. Mary Randell was baptised in November 1752 in Haslemere.

    3. John Randel was baptised in May 1757 in Haslemere.  He died aged 37 years and was buried on 15 December 1794 in Haslemere.  He name was recorded as John Randall in the burial register.  John married Elizabeth before or about 1785.  No possible marriage has been found for them in the Surrey marriage index.  They had 6 known children:

      1. Sall Randall was baptised on 13 May 1781 in Haslemere.

      2. Hannah Randall was baptised on 9 May 1783 in Haslemere.

      3. Abraham Randall was baptised on 23 March 1785 in Haslemere.

      4. William Randall was baptised on 18 February 1787 in Haslemere.

      5. Lydia Randall was baptised on 25 January 1789 in Haslemere.

      6. Elizabeth Randall was baptised on 15 December 1794 in Haslemere.

    4. Abraham Randel was baptised on 25 November 1757 in Haslemere.

    5. Ann Randall was baptised on 23 July 1760 in Haslemere.

    6. Sarah Randall was baptised on 27 October 1762 in Haslemere.

    7. James Randall was baptised on 3 October 1766 in Haslemere.

  10. Jeremiah Randal was baptised in June 1726 in Haslemere and his parents were of Witley.  He was buried as Jeremiah Randall on 10 February 1784 in Haslemere.  He married Mary sometime before or about 1753.  No possible marriage has been found for them in the Surrey marriage index.

    Jeremiah and Mary had 11 known children:

    1. William Randel was baptised on 6 July 1753 in Haslemere.

    2. Jeremiah Randel was baptised on 31 January 1755 in Haslemere.  As Jeremiah Randall he married Mary Puttock by licence on 15 February 1779 in Petworth, Sussex.  Their marriage licence recorded that he was a 25 year old bachelor and glazer of Petworth (2 years) and that she was a 30 year old widow of Petworth (several years).  Sponsorship of the licence was provided by Jeremiah and William Pullin the parish clerk of Petworth.  Jeremiah and Mary had 5 known children:

      1. James Randall was baptised on 2 May 1799 in Petworth and buried there on 4 November 1781.

      2. Lydia Randall was baptised on 15 January 1781 in Petworth.

      3. Ann Randall was baptised on 21 November 1782 in Petworth.

      4. Jeremiah Randall was born on 26 April and baptised on 22 May 1785 in Petworth.  He married Martha sometime before or about 1811.

      5. George Randall was born on 3 November and baptised on 25 November 1787 in Petworth.

    3. Elizabeth Randel was baptised on 12 November 1756 in Haslemere.

    4. John Randel was baptised on 26 April 1758 in Haslemere.  He married Hannah Hock on 14 May 1782 in Petworth.  They had 1 known daughter:

      1. Charlotte Randall was baptised on 13 May 1783 in Petworth.

    5. James Randall was baptised on 13 June 1760 in Haslemere.

    6. William Randall was baptised on 12 July 1762 in Haslemere.  He died aged 63 years and was buried on 5 June 1825 in Witley.  His name was recorded as William Randle in the burial register.

    7. Ann Randall was baptised on 24 August 1764 in Haslemere.

    8. Jane Randall was baptised on 20 June 1766 in Haslemere.

    9. Sarah Randall was baptised on 16 May 1768 in Haslemere.

    10. Hannah Randall was baptised on 22 June 1770 in Haslemere.

    11. Lydia Randall was baptised on 11 December 1772 in Haslemere.  She married William Kingshot by banns on 28 March 1796 in Haslemere.  The witnesses to the marriage were Dan. Randall and Thomas Ride, clerk.
