John PRONGER (c1675-?)

and Ann (?-?)

John Pronger and Ann married on 13 August 1701 in Horsham.  He was a husbandman.  Unfortunately her surname was not recorded in the marriage register.  (They were not my direct ancestors.)

John Pronger's date and place or birth/baptism are unknown, to me.  However, given that he named his first known son Abraham, might he have been the son of Abraham Pronger (1655-1736) and Mary Jupp (?-1719) who married in 1676 in Capel, Surrey?  Or might John have been a nephew of Abraham and Mary?

Ann's date and place of birth/baptism are unknown, to me.  It would seem her name was also recorded as Mary against the baptism of 2 of their children.

John Pronger and Ann had 6 known children:

  1. Elizabeth Prongger was baptised on 10 October 1701 in Horsham.  The baptism register noted that her mother's name was Ann.

  2. Abraham Pronger was baptised on 28 October 1702 in Nuthurst.  A transcript of the baptism register noted that his mother's name was Mary.  He may have married Jane some time before or about 1731.  (They have their own page.)  (Was he named after his grandfather, or an uncle of his father?)

  3. John Pronger was baptised on 14 May 1704 in Nuthurst and buried there on 8 April 1705.  The baptism register noted that his parents were from Horsham and that his mother's name was Mary.

  4. Mary Pronger was baptised on 29 November 1705 in Nuthurst.  The baptism register noted that her parents were from Horsham and that her mother's name was Ann.  She may have been buried on 26 April 1734 in Nuthurst.  The burial register noted that she was a maiden.

  5. Jude Pronger was baptised on 24 October 1707 in Nuthurst.  Only her father's name was recorded in the baptism register and he was from Horsham.  (I assume she was named after her great grandmother.)

  6. Ann Pronger was baptised on 2 November 1710 in Nuthurst.  The baptism register noted that her parents were from Horsham and her mother's name was Ann.
