When the 1841 census was recorded the couple were living at Mannings
Heath within the parish of Nuthurst. Henry was then said to be a
65 year old sawyer and Charlotte was 60. They were living next
door to William Mose and Hannah Mose
who were both 40 years old.
In 1851, Henry was a 76 year old
widower and sawyer. He was living in Mannings Heath in the home of
35 year old Thomas Pronger and his family.

Mary Ann Pronger was baptised on 6 May 1798 in Cowfold.

Charlotte Pronger was baptised on 21 July 1799 in
Nuthurst.

Henry Pronger was baptised on 20 August 1801 in
Nuthurst. He died aged 81 years and was buried on 13 June 1882 in
Lower Beeding.
Henry
married Maria Flint by banns on
14 November 1826 in Shipley, Sussex. He was a bachelor and she a
spinster. The witnesses to their marriage were Richard Fulle
and Sarah Peacock.
Maria was baptised on 9 March 1806 in West Grinstead and was the daughter of
Richard Flint and Mary Fuller. She
died aged 84 years and was buried on 30 January 1891 in Lower Beeding.
When the 1851 census was recorded the couple and their daughter Charlotte
were living in Corner House in Lower Beeding. Henry was then a 50 year
old agricultural labourer and Maria was 48.

Grinstead. The baptism register noted that his father was a
labourer from Shipley.

Shipley. The baptism register noted that her father was a
labourer.

Mary Pronger was baptised on 16 September 1832 in West
Grinstead.

William Pronger was baptised on 5 July 1835 in West
Grinstead. William married Elizabeth Worcester on
25 December 1858 in Lower Beeding. He was a 24 year old bachelor
and labourer. She was a 23 year old spinster from Balcombe.
Their fathers were named as Henry Pronger a labourer
and William G. Worcester a postman.
The witnesses to their marriage were William Pooley and
Mary Pooley.

Charlotte Pronger was baptised on 28 January 1838 in West
Grinstead. She was 12 years old in 1851 and living with her
parents.

Jane Pronger was baptised on 13 March 1803 in Nuthurst.

William Pronger was baptised on 5 January 1806 in
Nuthurst. He may have died aged 74 years and have been buried on 1
December 1879 in Lower Beeding.
William married
Elizabeth. Possibly Elizabeth Cane by banns on 14 November 1824 in Upper
Beeding. The witnesses to their marriage were James
Edwards junior and James Edwards senior.
In 1841 William was said to be a 35 year old labourer and Elizabeth
was 50. They were living in St. Leonard's in the parish of Lower
Beeding. With on census night was their daughter Elizabeth and
15 year old James Linfield who was a labourer.
When the 1851 census was recorded William was a 45 year old farmer
of 60 acres and living at Stable House in Lower Beeding with his 60
year old wife Elizabeth who was born in Oxfordshire. Also with
the couple was their 27 year old son Thomas Pronger
who was an unmarried farmer's son, and 2 servants, namely 30 year
old
Rebecca Stoner and 15 year old
Mark
Stoner.
An
Elizabeth Pronger died aged 83 years and was buried in Lower Beeding
on 26 November 1865, therefore, born about 1782. (Might her
age have been wrongly recorded in the burial register, or was the
burial of another Elizabeth?)
As a 62 year old widower, William married
Sarah Puntis
by licence on 23 November 1867 in Horsham. He was then a
timber merchant and she was a 59 year old spinster. Their
fathers were named as Henry Pronger a timber
merchant and John Puntis a tailor. The
witnesses to their marriage were William Randall
and Charlotte Collins.
William and Elizabeth had the following children:

Thomas Pronger was baptised on 11 September
1825 in Cowfold. He died aged 74 years and was buried on
24 June 1900 in Lower Beeding.
Thomas married
Ann Gasson by licence on 29
October 1856 in Lower Beeding. He was a bachelor and
farmer and she was a spinster and minor and married with her
parents' consent. Their fathers were named as William Pronger a farmer and
Henry Gasson
a labourer. The witnesses to their marriage were George Dewdney and
Elizabeth Dewdney.
Ann was born about 1835 in Nuthurst.
In 1891 the couple and son George were living in Lower Beeding.
Thomas was a 65 year old carpenter and Ann was 56. He gave his
place of birth as Lower Beeding and she as Nuthurst.

Anne Pronger was baptised on 12 April 1857
in Lower Beeding. Annie married George Peter
Laker on 16 October 1886 in Lower Beeding. He
was a 23 year old bachelor and blacksmith from Nuthurst and
she was a 28 year old spinster. Their fathers were
named as Peter Laker a farm bailiff and
Thomas Pronger a labourer. The
witnesses to their marriage were William Tulley
and Fanny Pronger.

William Thomas Pronger was baptised on 24
April 1859 in Lower Beeding. The baptism register
noted that his father was an engine driver.

Fanny Pronger was baptised on 28 April 1861
in Lower Beeding.. She married Edward Butler
on 17 April 1890 in Lower Beeding. He was a 26 year
old bachelor and labourer. She was 23 year old
spinster. Their fathers were named as Walter
Butler a carman and Thomas Pronger
a farmer. The witnesses to their marriage were Albert Pronger and
Mary Rufery.

Fred Pronger was baptised on 17 March 1863
in Lower Beeding and buried there on 23 March 1863 aged 1
month.

1866 in Lower Beeding.

George Pronger was baptised on 2 May 1869
in Lower Beeding. The baptism register noted that his
father was a woodman. In 1891 he was a 21 year old
carpenter.

Elizabeth Pronger was baptised on 25 May 1828
in Cowfold. The 1841 census recorded that she was 10 years
old and living with her parents.
Elizabeth married by licence on 21 December 1848 in Lower
Beeding. He was a bachelor and carpenter from Horsham and
she was a spinster and minor an married with her parents'

Dewdney and William Pronger who were
both farmers. The witnesses to their marriage were William Pronger and
Charlotte Collins.

Thomas Pronger was born about 1816 in Nuthurst.
Thomas married
Mary Waller on 21 September 1839 in Nuthurst.
Their fathers were named as Henry Pronger and John
Waller.
Mary was baptised on 10 November 1816 in Nuthurst and was the daughter of
John Waller and Charlotte Blanchard.
Mary's sister, Charlotte Waller, born in 1811, married
John Pronger (1801-?) in 1841.
When the 1851 census was recorded the couple and 5 children were living in
Mannings Heath. Thomas and Mary were both then aged 35 years and he
was a sawyer. With them on census night was 76 year old widower
Henry Pronger and 2 year old Richard Pronger
who was described as sons grandson.
