David Pollington and Elizabeth Dadswell
married on 22 January 1870 in Mayfield, Sussex. Their fathers were
named as David Pollington and Obed Dadswell.

David Pollington was born baptised on 14 June 1840 in
Rotherfield, Sussex. He was the son of David Pollington
(1813-?) and Harriet Maynard (1817-1848).
David died aged 49 years and was buried on 20 April 1889 in
Elizabeth Dadswell was baptised on 26 March 1849 in
Mayfield, Sussex. She was the daughter of
Dadswell (1812-1879) and
Ann Cole (1814-1882). The baptism register noted her
father was a labourer. When the 1851 census was recorded she was 2
years old and living with her parents and elder siblings at Norman Hole in
Mayfield. In 1861 she was 12 years old and living with her parents at
No Mans Hole in Mayfield.
In 1871 the couple and young daughter Harriet were living at Salter's Field,
Mayfield. David was a 30 year old agricultural labourer and Elizabeth
was 23. David's place of birth was given as Rotherfield, whilst his
wife and daughter were born in Mayfield. They were living next door to
The 1881 census records the couple and 3 children (David, Mary M. and
Obediah) were living at Scrag Oak Farm Cottage in Wadhurst. David was
a 41 year old agricultural labourer and Elizabeth was 34.
By the time of the 1891 census, Elizabeth was a 49 year old widow and living
at Barricks Cottages in Wadhurst, along with her 6 children (David, Mary,
Obed, Albert, Frank and Bessy).
In 1901, Elizabeth was a 56 year old widow living at ?ens Cottage, Wadhurst,
along with her 3 sons (Obediah, Albert and Frank).
In 1911, Elizabeth was a 66 year old widow living at Flattenden Cottage,
Wadhurst, along with her son Albert.
David Pollington and Elizabeth Dadswell had
8 known children:
Harriet Pollington was born in 1870 in Mayfield. At
the time of the 1871 census she was 9 months old. Harriet
Elizabeth Pollington died aged 2 years and was buried on 24 May
1872 in Wadhurst.
David Pollington was baptised on 6 April 1873 in
Mayfield. The baptism register noted his father was a labourer.
He was an 8 year old scholar in 1881. In 1891 he was an 18 year
old agricultural labourer.
Pollington was born in the second quarter 1875 in Mark
Cross, Sussex and baptised on 6 June 1875 in Mayfield. She married
Humphrey in 1895. (They have their own page.)
William Pollington was baptised on 1 April 1877 in
Mayfield. The baptism register noted that his father was a
labourer. He died as an infant and was buried on 10 January 1878
Obediah Pollington was baptised on 31 August 1879 in
Wadhurst. The baptism register noted his father was a labourer.
He was a year old when the 1881 census was recorded. In 1891,
Obed Pollington was a 12 year old scholar. He was
an unmarried 23 year old farm labourer in 1901.
Albert Pollington was born about 1883 in Wadhurst.
He was an 8 year old scholar in 1891. In 1901 he was a 19 year old
farm labourer. He was an unmarried 27 year farm labourer in 1911
and living with his mother.
Frank Pollington was born about 1887 in Wadhurst.
He was a 4 year old scholar in 1891. In 1901 he was a 16 year old
Bessy Pollington was born about 1889 in Wadhurst.
At the time of the 1891 census she was 2 years old.
