Robert PLAW
(c1660-?)
and Johanna PAYNE (c1665-?)

Robert Plaw and Johanna Payne may have been my 8x Great
Grandparents. They married by licence on 1 July 1687 at St. John,
Southover in Lewes, Sussex. Their marriage licence was issued on 30
June 1687 in the South Malling Peculiar. It recorded that Robert was a
weaver of Brighton and Joan a spinster of Cliffe. Sponsors of the
licence were Robert himself and William Lee of Brighton.
Robert Plaw's date and place of birth/baptism are unknown, to me.
Might he have been the son of Robert Plawe and Jane Hallanes
who married on 4 November 1656 in Framfield, Sussex?
Johanna Payne's date and place of birth/baptism are unknown, to me.
Robert Plaw and Joahanna
Payne had 4 known children:
-
Mary Plaa was baptised on 22 January 1687/8 at St. Nicholas in
Brighton. Her parents names were recorded as Robart and Hanah in the
baptism register.
-
Ann
Plaa, my possible 7x Great Grandmother, was baptised on 20 January
1688/9 at St. Nicholas in Brighton. The baptism register records her
parents as Robart and Hanah. She married
John
Howell in 1709. (They have their own page.)
-
Johanna Plaa was baptised on 8 May 1692 at St. Nicholas in
Brighton. Her parents names were recorded as Robert and Johana.
Might She have married Sargent Harman on 25 November 1722 in
Brighton? He was then of the parish of St. Anne in Lewes and she was
of Brighton.
-
Elizabeth Plaa
was baptised on 14 July 1700 at St. Nicholas in Brighton. Her
parents names were recorded as Robert and Hannah in the baptism register.
She married
John Howell
in 1726. (They have their own page.)
