George PEARCY

and Jane CARTER (1817-1879)

George
Pearcy and
Jane Carter married by banns on 18 October 1835 in Bepton, Sussex. (His surname
was spelt Pearson in the banns register.) He was then a bachelor and
she a spinster and they were both of Bepton. The witnesses to their
marriage were Thomas Tupper and Ann Tupper.
(They were not my direct ancestors. George was the half brother of my
3x Great Grandmother, Sarah Baxter.)
George Pearcy was born on 27 October 1807 and baptised
on 22 November 1807 in Midhurst, Sussex. He was the son of
Ann Pearcy
(1784-?). George died aged 60 years and was
buried on 16 December 1866 in Bepton.
Jane Carter was born on 28
May 1817 and baptised on 22 June 1817 in Treyfold cum Didling, Sussex.
She was the
daughter of Thomas Carter and Mary Ayling (1779-?). She died aged 62
years and was buried on 7 September 1879 in Bepton.
The 1841 census was
recorded on 6 June and George Pearson together with his
wife
Jane and their 2 sons were living on Bepton Common and he was then a brickmaker. When
the 1851 census was recorded the family were living on Bepton Common and
George was a 43 year old agricultural labourer. the 1861 census
records that 54 year old George was a dairy man and was living on Bepton
Common with his 43 year old wife and 2 of their children.
George Pearcy and Jane Carter had 8 known children:

George Piercy
was born on 17 February and baptised on 8 May 1836 in Bepton. He was 5
year old George Pearson when the 1841 census was recorded. In
1851 he was a 15 year old blacksmith's apprentice living in the home of
Thomas Tribe in North Street, Midhurst.

Peter Pearson
was baptised on 4 January 1840 in Bepton. He died aged 41 years and
was buried on 22 April 1881 in Bepton. In 1841 he was a year old.
He was an 11 year old scholar in 1851. In 1861 he was an unmarried 21
year old agricultural labourer.

Charles Pearson
was baptised on 12 June 1842 in Bepton and buried there on 12 November 1842,
aged 5 months.

Emma Pearson
was baptised on 29 December 1843 in Bepton and buried there on 14 April
1844, aged 3 months.

Edmund Pearson
was baptised on 12 June 1845 in Bepton. He was 5 years old when the
1851 census was recorded.

Alfred Pearson
was baptised on 12 July 1849 in Bepton. He died aged 32 years and was
buried on 24 March 1882 in Bepton. He was a year old in 1851. In
1861 he was an 11 year old scholar.

Jem Pearson
was baptised on 11 January 1852 in Bepton. Jem died aged 7 years and
was buried on 23 May 1858 in Bepton.

Mary Jane
Pearson was baptised on 7 February 1855 in Bepton and buried there on 1
June 1858, aged 3 years.
