George PEARCY (1807-1866)

and Jane CARTER (1817-1879)

George Pearcy and Jane Carter married by banns on 18 October 1835 in Bepton, Sussex.  (His surname was spelt Pearson in the banns register.)  He was then a bachelor and she a spinster and they were both of Bepton.  The witnesses to their marriage were Thomas Tupper and Ann Tupper.  (They were not my direct ancestors.  George was the half brother of my 3x Great Grandmother, Sarah Baxter.)

George Pearcy was born on 27 October 1807 and baptised on 22 November 1807 in Midhurst, Sussex.  He was the son of Ann Pearcy (1784-?).  George died aged 60 years and was buried on 16 December 1866 in Bepton.

Jane Carter was born on 28 May 1817 and baptised on 22 June 1817 in Treyfold cum Didling, Sussex.  She was the daughter of Thomas Carter and Mary Ayling (1779-?).  She died aged 62 years and was buried on 7 September 1879 in Bepton.

The 1841 census was recorded on 6 June and George Pearson together with his wife Jane and their 2 sons were living on Bepton Common and he was then a brickmaker.  When the 1851 census was recorded the family were living on Bepton Common and George was a 43 year old agricultural labourer.  the 1861 census records that 54 year old George was a dairy man and was living on Bepton Common with his 43 year old wife and 2 of their children.
