Stephen PIERCE (1751-?)

and Elizabeth Ann WHEELER (?-1808)

Stephen Pierce and Elizabeth Ann Harland married by banns on 7 April 1778 in Lindfield, Sussex.  Elizabeth Ann was a widow and they were both of Lindfield.  Previously as Elizabeth Ann Wheeler she had married Henry Harland on 18 May 1772 in Lindfield.

Stephen Pearce was baptised on 1 December 1751 in Newick, Sussex.  He was the son of Thomas Pearce (1717-?) and Maria Hoalman (?-1795).

Elizabeth Ann Wheeler's date and place of birth/baptism are unknown, to me.  As Elizabeth Ann Pierce she was buried on 31 December 1808 in Lindfield.

Stephen Pierce and Elizabeth Ann Wheeler had 4 known children:

  1. Stephen Pearce was baptised on 8 July 1778 in Lindfield.

Peter Pierce was born about 1769.  An Archdeaconry of Lewes marriage licence was issued to him and Sarah Hackman on 8 November 1792.  He was then a 23 year old bachelor of Lindfield and she was a 19 year old and upwards, spinster of Barcombe.  Surety for the licence was provided by Peter himself and John Fisher.  They married on 8 November 1792 in Lindfield.

Elizabeth Pierce was buried on 23 January 1779 in Lindfield,

Marianne Peirce was baptised on 6 November 1781 in Lindfield, the daughter of Marianne.

William Pierce was buried on 11 August 1783 in Lindfield.
