John PIERCE (1746-?)

and Susanna ROSER (1747-1810)

John Pierce and Susanna Roser married by banns on 6 October 1770 in Fletching, Sussex.  He was then of Newick and she of Fletching.

John Pearce may have been baptised on 23 March 1746, the son of John Pearce and Hannah Jenner (1716-1798) or on 25 January 1746/7, the son of Thomas Pearce (1717-?) and Maria Hoalman (?-1795).  Both baptisms took place in Newick, Sussex.  Given that he named children John and Hannah and not Thomas and Maria, I am assuming he was the son of John and Hannah.

Susannah Rosar was baptised on 18 October 1747 in Horsted Keynes, Sussex.  She was the daughter of John Rosar and Barbara Care.  She died aged 62 years and was buried on 14 February 1810 in Newick.  The burial register recorded her name as Susanna Pierce.

  3. William Pierce was baptised on 26 May 1776 in Newick.  Did he marry Elizabeth Rice by banns on 28 February 1797 in Newick?  Elizabeth was a spinster and they were both of Newick.

  4. James Pierce was baptised on 29 August 1778 in Newick.

  5. Hannah Pearce was baptised on 11 May 1783 in Newick.

    3. John Allen was baptised on 16 August 1807 in Chailey.

    4. Mary Allen was baptised on 1 October 1809 in Chailey.  She may have married Thomas Hesman by banns on 19 April 1836 in Chailey.  He was then of Newick and she of Chailey.

    5. William Allen was baptised on 3 April 1814 in Chailey.  The baptism register noted that his father was a cordwainer of Chailey.

  7. Susanna Pearce was baptised on 10 August 1788 in Newick.

Susanna married William Mitchell by banns on 29 April 1810 in Fletching.  They were both then of Fletching.  The IGI records that Susannah was born about 1789 and was buried on 10 January 1828 in Fletching.
