William PARSONS (1766-1842)

and Hannah TRUSLER (1770-1845)

 

William Parsons and Hannah Trusler may have been my 5x Great Grandparents.  (Click here to see their possible place in my pedigree chart.)  They married by banns on 27 May 1791 in West Grinstead, Sussex.  The witnesses to their marriage were William Gander and William Gratwick.

William Parsons was baptised on 11 May 1766 in Woodmancote, Sussex.  He was the son of John Parsons (1718-1798) and Ann Fowle (1721-?).  William died aged 76 years and was buried on 10 July 1842 in Cowfold.

Hannah Trusler was baptised on 16 April 1770 in West Grinstead, Sussex.  She was the daughter of John Trusler (1738-1780) and Elizabeth Snashall (1746-?).  Hannah died aged 78 years and was buried on 6 May 1845 in Cowfold (should that be 75?).

When the 1841 census was recorded the couple were both said to be 70 years old and they were living at Morleys in Shermanbury, Sussex.  William was then an agricultural labourer.

 

 William Parsons and Hannah Trusler had 8 known children:

  1. Hannah Parsons was baptised on 30 October 1791 in Cowfold and buried there on 8 January 1792.  The burial register noted that she was a child.

  2. William Parsons, my possible 4x Great Grandfather, was baptised on 6 January 1793 in Cowfold.  He married Hannah Thorns in 1812.  (They have their own page.)

  3. Thomas Parsons was baptised on 7 September 1799 in Cowfold and buried there as an infant on 20 October 1799.

  4. Harry Parsons was baptised on 1 August 1802 in Cowfold and buried there as an infant on 31 October 1802, by the name of Henry Parsons.

  5. James Parsons was baptised on 11 May 1804 in Cowfold.  The baptism register recorded that he was the son of John and Hannah, although there were no other children of John and Hannah baptised in Cowfold at that time.  He married Mary Saunders in 1824.  (They have their own page.)

  6. Rebecca Parsons was baptised on 16 September 1805 in Cowfold and buried there on 12 September 1806.  The burial register noted that she was the daughter of William and Hannah.

  7. John Parsons was baptised on 18 January 1807 in Cowfold.  He married married Mary Tomsett in 1828.  (They have their own page.)

  8. Charles Parsons was baptised on 4 September 1808 in Cowfold.  He married Mary Matthews in 1830.  (They have their own page.)
