Thomas PARSONS (1840-?)

and Mary LINDFIELD (1840-?)

Thomas Parsons and Mary Linfield married on 9 April 1863 in Cowfold, Sussex.  He was a bachelor and labourer and she was a spinster.  Their fathers were named as John Parsons and Henry Linfield.  The witnesses to their marriage were James Richardson and Fanny Richardson.  (They were not my direct ancestors.  Thomas was the nephew of my possible 4x Great Grandfather, William Parsons.)

Thomas Parsons was baptised on 14 January 1840 in Cowfold.  He was the son of John Parsons (1807-1878) and Mary Tomsett (1809-1875).  He was baptised on the same day as his sister Mary and their father was then a labourer.  In 1841 he and Mary were a year old.  When the 1851 census was recorded he was an 11 year old agricultural labourer and ploughboy, whilst his 11 year old sister Mary was a scholar.  They were living with the parents in Ashurst Cottage in Cowfold.

Mary Lindfield was baptised on 28 June 1840 in Cowfold.  She was the daughter of Henry Lindfield (1819-?) and Mary Richardson (1820-?).  Her father was a labourer when she was baptised.

Thomas Parsons and Mary Lindfield had 9 known children:

  1. Mary Ann Parsons

  2. Elizabeth Parsons

  3. Thomas Parsons

  4. John Parsons

  5. Jane Parsons

  6. Walter Parsons

  7. William Parsons
