John OSBORNE (1609-1657)
and Mary GRAY (c1610-?)

John Osborne
and Mary Gray's
marriage was recorded in the parish registers of Upper Beeding, Sussex
on 16 May 1642, although I think it more likely they married in the chapel
of St. Leonard's in Lower Beeding. They may have been my 10x Great
Grandparnets. (Click
here to
see their possible place in my pedigree chart.)
John Osborne was baptised on 25 June 1609 in
Horsham, Sussex. He was the son of
John Osborne
(c1580-1631) and Dorothy
Cheesman (c1580-1648). He was buried on 20 February
1656/7 in Upper Beeding.
Mary Gray's date and place of birth/baptism are unknown, to me.
Might she have been baptised on 21 April 1611 in Billingshurst, Sussex, the
daughter of Isaac Gray (1614-?) and Mary Quaile?
For ecclesiastical purposes Lower Beeding remained part of Upper Beeding
until 1838. The two were joined because the tithes of St. Leonard's
Forest were granted to Sele priory in Upper Beeding. See
British History Online.
