and Elizabeth (?-1732)
John Nowel and Elizabeth may have been my 8x Great
Grandparents. She may have been Elizabeth Marlan or
Merlin. I am guessing they married sometime in the
1680's or 90's in or around Northchapel or Kirdford, Sussex.
John Nowel's date and place of birth/baptism are unknown,
to me. He was most probably buried as
John Nowell on 14 July 1717 in Northchapel
Elizabeth's date and place of birth/baptism are unknown, to

Elizabeth had 1 or 2 known children and possibly more:
Edward Nowell the son of John Nowell was
buried on 20 January 1684/5 in Northchapel.

He married Elizabeth (c1686-1759) sometime before April
1717. (They have their own page.)
Alice Nowel married Thomas Barber on 28
September 1718 in Northchapel.
Thomas died aged 73 years and was buried on 29 November 1768, therefore,
born about 1695. Might he have been the son of John Barber
and Mary Martin who had married on 4 October 1683 in
Petworth, at which time John was of Henfield?
Thomas and Alice had the following children:
Mary Barber was baptised on 6 November 1720 in

Elizabeth Barber was baptised on 14 November 1725 in

She may have been buried on 1 April 1730 in Northchapel.

Neither of his parents were named in the baptism register.
Mary Noel was baptised on 4 May 1721 in Lurgashall.
