Thomas NORRIS (1665-1731)

and Catherine DAWES (1667-?)

 

Thomas Norris and Catherine Dawes married on 1 May 1690 in Cuckfield, Sussex.  They may have been my 7x Great Grandparents.  (Click here to see their possible place in my pedigree chart.)

Thomas Norris was baptised on 12 February 1664/5 in Cuckfield, Sussex.  He was the son of Thomas Norris (?-1689) and Mary.  Thomas was buried on 20 September 1731 in Cuckfield.  He was a bricklayer.

Catherine Dawes was baptised on 25 January 1666/7 in Cuckfield, Sussex.  She was the daughter of Edward Dawes and Elizabeth Roades (?-1683).

 

Thomas Norris and Catherine Dawes had 7 known children:

  1. Thomas Norris was baptised on 20 September 1691 in Cuckfield.

  2. John Norris was baptised on 11 March 1693/4 in Cuckfield.  He married Margaret Virgo in 1716 in Lancing, Sussex.  (They have their own page.)

  3. William Norris was born on 23 July 1696 and baptised on 2 August 1696 in Cuckfield.

    William married Elizabeth.

    William and Elizabeth had 1 known child:

    1. Richard Norris was baptised on 8 September 1734 in Cuckfield.

  4. Richard Norris was baptised on 18 December 1700 in Cuckfield and buried there on 13 July 1728.

  5. Jeremiah Norris was baptised on 15 January 1703/4 in Cuckfield.

    Jeremy Norris married Mary Borger on 8 April 1729 in Cuckfield.

    Jeremiah and Mary had the following children:

    1. John Norris was baptised on 29 March 1730 in Cuckfield.

    2. Catherine Norris was baptised on 13 August 1732 in Cuckfield.

    3. Mary Norris was baptised on 16 June 1734 in Cuckfield.

    4. Mary Norris was baptised on 10 February 1739/40 in Cuckfield.

  6. Benjamin Norris was baptised on 24 December 1706 in Cuckfield.

  7. Edward Norris was baptised on 25 November 1709 in Cuckfield.

    Edward married Mary Saxby on 10 June 1734 at St. John sub Castro in Lewes, Sussex.  They were both then of Cuckfield.

    Edward and Mary had the following children:

    1. Dorothy Norris was baptised on 16 March 1734/5 in Cuckfield.

      Dorothy may have married Thomas Ventrice by licence on 16 November 1776 in Cuckfield.  He was the a widower from Chapalry of Horne, Surrey.

    2. Edward Norris was baptised on 19 April 1737 in Cuckfield.

      Edward married Susanna Jenner by banns on 24 April 1764 in Cuckfield.

      Edward and Susanna had the following children:

      1. Edward Norris was baptised on 26 December 1765 in Cuckfield.

        Edward married Sarah Packham by banns on 1 January 1793 in Cuckfield.  He was a bachelor and mason and she a spinster.  They were both of Cuckfield.

      2. Elizabeth Norris was baptised on 24 April 1767 in Cuckfield.

      3. Thomas Norris was baptised on 18 August 1770 in Cuckfield.

      4. William Norris was baptised on 21 October 1773 in Cuckfield.

        William married Ann Field by banns on 16 March 1801 in Cuckfield.  They were both of Cuckfield.
