and Mary (?-1708)
Thomas Norris and Mary married sometime before or
about 1662 and possibly near West Hoathly or Cuckfield, Sussex They may have been my
8x Great Grandparents.
Thomas Norris's date and place of birth/baptism are
unknown, to me. I am assuming he was born in the 1630's. He may
have been buried on 23 or 28 October 1689 in Cuckfield. There was also
a Thomas Norris from Horsted who was buried on 2 January
1680 in West Hoathley.
Might he have been baptised on 25 March 1637 in East Grinstead, Sussex, the
son of Robert Norris and Elizabeth?
However, a Thomas Norries was buried as a child on 18 April
1638 in East Grinstead.
Might he have been the son of Thomas Norris and
Elizabeth who had a son John Norris baptised on 13
January 1638/9 in West Hoathly?
Mary's date and place of birth/baptism are unknown, to me.
She was most probably buried on 14 July 1708 in Cuckfield. The burial
register noted that Mary Norris was an aged widow.
A Settlement Certificate was issued on 18 May 1665 to Thomas Norris
and family, by Horsted Keynes or Cuckfield parish overseers. It was
noted that he had a chamber in the house of John Langridge
in Horsted Green.
Thomas Norris and Mary had
2 known children:
William Norris was baptised on 26 October 1662 in West
was baptised on 12 February 1664/5 in Cuckfield. He married
in 1690. (They have their own page.)
