My Norris Ancestors

A 3x Great Grandmother was Susan Norris who married John Hoadley in 1821 in Billingshurst, Sussex. The couple settled in Henfield, Sussex. Susan was the daughter of Richard Norris and Hannah Scutt and I am fairly certain of my link up to this point. Hannah was Richard's second wife and they married in Billingshurst in 1790. He had previously married Ann Alfrey in 1780 in Ditchling, Sussex.

I am reasonably sure that Richard was born in Steyning, Sussex in 1755, but I have no proof that the Richard in Billingshurst was the one born in Steyning. If he was born in Steyning then he was the son of Richard Norris and Mary Penfold.

I am then less sure of Richard senior's date and place of birth, but think he may have been born in Cuckfield, Sussex in 1725 and have been the son of John Norris and Margaret Virgo. I then further speculate that John was also born in Cuckfield in 1694 to Thomas Norris and Catherine Dawes.
