Malcolm Sydney
NICOLSON (1865-1941)
and Emma Jane ELPHICK (1871-1938)

Malcolm Sydney Nicolson and Emma Jane Elphick married in the
third quarter of 1894 in the Greenwich registration district. (They
were not my direct ancestors. Their youngest son married my dad's
elder sister.)
Malcolm Sydney Nicolson was born about 1865 in Hounslow, Middlesex.
His birth may have been registered as Malcolm Patrick Nicolson (this
was how his name was recorded on his son's marriage certificate) in the
second quarter of 1865 in the Brentford, Middlesex registration district.
He died on 7 May 1941 in Welling, Kent was buried with his wife on 12
May 1941 in Greenwich. Malcolm was a butcher. (I have a small
photograph of Malcolm, which I will eventually scan in and include on this
page. I also have a copy of his will.)
Emma Jane Elphick was born in the first quarter of 1871 in Greenwich,
London. She died on 9 January 1938 in Greenwich.
Malcolm Sydney Nicolson and Emma Jane Elphick had 4 known children:
-
Winifred Emma Nicolson was born in the third quarter of 1897 in
Greenwich. She may have married Arthur Thomas in
the third quarter of 1921 in the Greenwich registration district.
-
Malcolm George Nicolson was born in the third quarter of 1898 in
Greenwich. He was known as Son.
-
Dorothy Ivy Nicolson was born on 27 October 1902 in Greenwich.
She married Reginald P. Garrett in the fourth quarter of
1924 in the Greenwich registration district.
-
Stephen Patrick Nicolson was
born on 31 August 1908 in Greenwich. He died suddenly on 12 October
1977 at his home, 87 Southwick Street, Southwick and was buried in the
Downsway cemetery in Southwick. His cause of death was Myocardial
infarction, Coronary artery occlusion and Atherosclerosis. He was
known as Steve. He married twice, firstly to Eileen Caroline
Harriett Barnard on 31 August 1932 and then to my dad's sister,
Ivy Willard on 22 September 1951 in Hove, Sussex. His first
marriage ended in divorce.
