John NEWNAM (?-?)

and Ann BUTCHER (?-1745)

John Newnham and Ann Butcher married by licence on 9 October 1736 in Withyham, Sussex.  She was then from Chailey.  Another John Newnham married Anne Potter in Ardingly in 1737.  (They were not my direct ancestors.)

John Newnham's date and place of birth/baptism are unknown, to me.  I think he may have been born in 1688 and died in 1780 (see further below).  I also think he married Elizabeth Hoather in 1733.

Ann Butcher's date and place of birth/baptism are unknown, to me.  Ann, wife of John Newnham, was buried on 19 May 1745 in Chailey, Sussex.  I would think she was born some time between 1697 and 1720, also given that she may have been John's second wife, might she also have been previously married?

  2. Ann Newnham was baptised 4 April 1741 in Chailey.
