John NEWNAM (c1560-1611)

and Mary NUTLEY (c1565-?)

John Newnam and Mary Nutley married on 22 June 1589 in Lindfield, Sussex.

John Newnam's date and place of birth/baptism are unknown, to me.  He was buried on 3 October 1611 in Lindfield.  The burial register recorded that John Newnam was of Plummerden (Plumton).  (On todays map, Plummerden Lane is to the north east of the centre of Lindfield village, about half way between Lindfield and Horsted Keynes.)

Mary Nutley's date and place of birth/baptism are unknown, to me.

John Newnam and Mary Nutley had 7 known children:

  1. An unbaptised child of John Newnam was buried on 26 February 1589/90 in Lindfield.

  2. An unbaptised child of John Newnam was buried on 17 April 1595 in Lindfield.

  3. Annis Newham was baptised on 20 April 1595 in Lindfield, at which time her father was from Plumarden.  She was buried on 13 March 1695/6 in Lindfield.

  4. Margaret Newnam was baptised on 17 April 1597 in Lindfield, at which time her father was of Plumarden.  She may have married John Vinall on 3 August 1623 in Chailey, Sussex, or Richard Purvey on 25 May 1624 in Hurstpierpoint, Sussex.

  5. Thomas Newnam was baptised on 12 January 1599/1600 in Lindfield, at which time his father was of Plumarden.

  6. Anne Newnam was baptised with her brother on 12 January 1599/1600 in Lindfield.

  7. George Newnam was baptised on 10 July 1603 in Lindfield.
