My Monk Ancestors

A 6x Great Grandmother was Frances Monk who married Edward Tester in 1756 in Burwash, Sussex. She was born in Etchingham, Sussex in 1722 and was the daughter of Henry Monk and Sarah Collins, who had married in Wadhurst in 1709.

Henry Monk (1682-1759)

Richard Munck of Heathfield, Sussex. Dated 31 July 1647, ref. PROB 11/201. I have a copy of this document which I will eventually transcribe and include in this site. But briefly, Richard mentions his eldest son Richard Munck who was under 21, daughter Elizabeth Munck under 21, son William Munck under 21, brother in lawe William Pankherst, overseers Robert Foster and William Pankherst, executor (I think) William Weston. (Might Elizabeth have married John Hilles on 9 October 1651 in Burwash? A William Panckherst married Joan Browne, widow, on 20 August 1642 in Heathfield. An Elizabeth Monke had married Thomas Pankest on 16 February 1628/9 in Heathfield. Richard Monke senior may have married Margery Norris on 15 January 1628/9 in Heathfield.)
