John MILLYARD (1774-1840)

and Mehetabel FOGDEN (1775-1832)

 

John Millyard and Mehetabel Fogden married licence on 1 January 1796 in Boxgrove, Sussex.  Their marriage licence was issued by the Archdeaconry of Chichester on 31 December 1795.  It noted that he was a bachelor and farmer and she was a spinster.  They were both aged 21 years and upwards and both of Boxgrove.  John next married Mary Hills by banns on 17 January 1835 in Upper Beeding, Sussex.  He was then a widower and she a widow.  The witnesses to their marriage were Eliza Newman and John Newman.

John Millyard was baptised on 25 June 1774 in Boxgrove, Sussex.  He was the son of Thomas Millyard (c1744-?) and Sarah Collins (c1754-?).  He died in 1840.

Mehetabel Fogden was baptised on 26 March 1775 in Boxgrove, Sussex.  She was the daughter of Alexander Fogden (c1737-?) and Sarah Martin (c1739-?).  She died aged 56 years and was buried on 29 November 1832 in Nuthurst.

 

John Millyard and Mehetabel Fogden had 12 known children:

  1. Emily Millyard was baptised on 8 November 1796 in Boxgrove, Sussex.  She married twice, firstly to David Comber in 1816 (they have their own page) and then to John Buckwell in 1823 (they have their own page).

  2. Methelda Millyard was baptised on 13 January 1799 in Nuthurst and probably died young, although I have not found her burial in a transcript of the Nuthurst registers.

  3. Alexander Millyard was baptised on 26 December 1800 in Nuthurst.

    Alexander married Ann Hersey by banns on 5 September 1825 in Horsham, Sussex.  He was then a bachelor of Nuthurst and she was of Horsham.  The witnesses to their marriage were Matilda Chart and John Pronger.

  4. Thomas Millyard was baptised on 19 January 1803 in Nuthurst.

  5. Letsey Millyard was baptised on 13 November 1804 in Nuthurst.

  6. Rody Ann Millyard was baptised on 19 January 1807 in Nuthurst.

    As Rhoda Ann Millyard she married Edmund Juden by banns on 10 April 1830 in Hove, Sussex.  He was a bachelor and she a spinster and they were both of Hove.

  7. Cicely Millyard was baptised on 30 October 1809 in Nuthurst.

    Cicely married George Killick by banns on 15 July 1831 in Brighton.  He was a bachelor and she a spinster and they were both of Brighton.

  8. John Millyard was baptised on 9 September 1811 in Nuthurst.  He died aged 15 days and was buried on 25 September 1811 in Nuthurst.

  9. George Millyard was baptised on 9 September 1811 in Nuthurst.  He died aged 10 days and was buried on 21 September 1811 in Nuthurst.

  10. Mehetabel Millyard was baptised on 2 March 1813 in Nuthurst.

    Mehetabel married John Gibbs by banns on 28 October 1832 in Brighton.  He was a bachelor and she a spinster and they were both of Brighton.

  11. Eliza Millyard was baptised on 28 April 1815 in Nuthurst.

    Eliza married John Newman on 11 December 1833 in Nuthurst.  They were both then of Nuthurst.

  12. Frederick Millyard was baptised on 5 November 1817 in Nuthurst.
