William GEORGE MENGHAM (1876-?)

and Mabel Annie WYATT (1875-?)

 

William George Mengham and Mabel Annie Wyatt married in the third quarter of 1896 in the East Preston registration.  (They were not my direct ancestors.  Their granddaughter married my dad's brother.)

William George Mengham was born in the third quarter of 1876 in Emmsworth, Hampshire.  He was the son of William Mengham (c1857-?) and Charlotte Carpenter (c1851-?).

Mabel Annie Wyatt was born in the first quarter of 1875 and baptised on 9 April 1875 in Findon, Sussex.  She was the daughter of William Wyatt (c1841-?) and Elizabeth Goater (c1852-?).  The baptism register described her father as a gentleman of Findon.

When the 1901 census was recorded the couple and 3 children were living at 149 Broyle Road in Chichester, Sussex.  William was then a 25 year old cowman on a farm.  He then gave his place of birth as Woodmancote, Sussex.  Mabel was 25 years old and said she was born in Findon.

 

George Thompson and Mabel Annie Mengham had 4 known children:

  1. George Mengham was born about 1896 in Wick, Sussex.  He was 5 years old in 1901.

  2. Emily Victoria Mengham was born in the second quarter of 1897 in Rogate, Sussex.  She was 4 years old in 1901.

  3. William James Mengham was born in the third quarter of 1899 in Harting, Sussex.  At the the time of the 190 census he was 2 years old.

  4. Mabel Annie Mengham was born in the fourth quarter of 1901 in Tortington, Sussex.  She married George Edward Thompson in 1922.  (They have their own page.)
