The 1871 census
records that the family were living in Stone Link Cottage in Brede and
George was an agricultural labourer. In 1881 George was still an
agricultural labourer and the family were living at 2 Work House in Udimore.
They were back in Brede by the time of the 1891 census, living at Cold
Harbour and George was an agricultural labourer. Jane was a widow by
1901 living at Flemsted by her own means, along with 4 of her children, a
granddaughter and a boarder, 20 year old George Brooke.

Spencer
William Masters was born in the first quarter of 1864 in Udimore.
In 1871 he was a 7 year old scholar. In 1881 he was a 17 year old
agricultural labourer, living in the home of his uncle
Charles Masters
at Billingham Cottage in Brede.

James Masters
was born about 1865 in Icklesham. He was a 6 year old scholar in
1871. In 1881 he was a 16 year old agricultural labourer.

Robert Masters
was born about 1866 in Peasmarsh. He was a 5 year old scholar in
1871. In 1881 he was a 14 year old agricultural labourer. He
was the eldest of his siblings living at home in 1891 and he was then a
single 23 year old agricultural labourer.

Kate Masters
was born in the third quarter of 1867 in Brede. In 1871 she was 4
years old. She was 13 years old in 1881.

Masters was baptised on 27 April 1890 in Udimore, at which time her
mother was then a single woman of Brede.

Masters was baptised on 30 May 1869 in Brede. He was 2 years old
in 1871. In 1881 he was a 12 year old scholar. He was an
unmarried 22 year old agricultural labourer in 1891, living at home.

Rose Edith
Masters was baptised on 29 January 1871 in Brede. Edith
Masters was 4 months old when the 1871 census was recorded. In
1881 Rosa Masters was a 10 year old scholar.

was born about 1872 in Udimore. In 1881 he was a 9 year old scholar.

was baptised on 7 September 1873 in Udimore. He was an 8 year old
scholar in 1881. In 1891 he was an 18 year old agricultural
labourer.

was baptised on 13 June 1875 in Udimore. He was a 7 year old scholar
in 1881. In 1891 he was a 16 year old agricultural labourer.

Alfred Masters
was baptised on 22 October 1876 in Udimore. In 1881 he was a 5 year
old scholar. He was a 15 year old agricultural labourer in 1891.
In 1901 he was an unmarried 24 year old stone quarryman living with his
mother.

Charles Albert
Masters was baptised on 18 November 1877 in Udimore. Albert
Masters was a 3 year old scholar in 1881. His name was again
recorded as Albert in the 1891 census and he was a 14 year old
agricultural labourer.

Minnie Masters
was baptised on 28 July 1879 in Udimore. She was a year old in 1881.
In 1891 she was a 12 year old scholar.

Masters was baptised on 22 February 1881 in Udimore. When the
1881 census was recorded she was 3 months old. She was an 11 year
old scholar in 1891.

Masters was baptised on 22 October 1882 in Udimore. He was a 9
year old scholar in 1891.

Edward Henry
Masters was baptised on 9 March 1884 in Udimore. He was 6 years
old in 1891. The 1901 census records that he was an 18 year old
agricultural labourer living with his mother.

Nellie Masters
was baptised on 6 December 1885 in Udimore. She died aged 2 years in
the third quarter of 1888 in the Rye registration district.

Mabel Alice
Masters was baptised on 8 May 1887 in Udimore, at which time her
father was a labourer of Brede. She was 5 years old in 1891.
In 1901 she was 11 years old.

was baptised on 29 September 1889 in Udimore, at which time his father was
a labourer of Brede. He was a year old in 1891.

Beatrice
Masters was baptised on 25 January 1891 in Udimore. The baptism
register records that she was the daughter of George and Jane, and that
her father was a labourer of Brede. She was 4 months old when the
1891 census was recorded, and the daughter of George and Jane. The
1901 census records that she was the 10 year old granddaughter of Jane.
