John MARKWICK (c1650-?)

and Judith FISSENDEN (c1650-?)

 

John Markquick and Judith Fissenden may have been my 9x Great Grandparents.  (Click here to see their possible place in my pedigree chart.)  They married 20 May 1675 in Ticehurst, Sussex.

John Markwick's date and place of birth/baptism are unknown, to me.

Judith Fissenden's date and place of birth/baptism are unknown, to me.

 

John Markwick and Judith Fissenden had 5 known children:

  1. Mary Marquick, my possible 8x Great Grandmother, was baptised on 28 November 1675 in Ticehurst.  She may have married Robert Smith in 1706.  (They have their own page.)

  2. Elizabeth Marquick was baptised on 4 March 1676/7 in Ticehurst.

  3. Ann Marquick was baptised on 23 February 1678/9 in Ticehurst.

  4. John Markwick was baptised on 13 February 1680/1 in Ticehurst.

  5. Thomas Markwick was baptised on 15 January 1683/4 in Ticehurst and buried there on 21 January 1683/4.

 

 

Possible parents of John:

  1. Nicholas Markwick married Mary Haline on 23 June 1640 in Wadhurst.

  2. James Marckwick married Sarah Hatley by licence on 7 September 1641 in Wadhurst, Sussex.  Their marriage licence was issued on 2 September 1641 by the South Malling Peculiar, which recorded that Sarah was a spinster and they were both of Wadhurst.

  3. Thomas Markwicke married Elizabeth Snatt on 3 January 1647/8 in Rotherfield, Sussex.  They had the following child:

    1. Mary Marckwick was born on 5 April 1654 in Rotherfield.

 

Possible parents of Judith:

  1. Thomas Fissenden married Joan Kittell on 14 July 1642 in East Hoathly, Sussex.

  2. John Fissenden married Elizabeth Peckenham on 8 February 1651/2 in Playden, Sussex.

  3. Andrew Fishenden married Sarah before or about 1652.  They had the following children:

    1. John Fishenden was baptised on 9 May 1652 in Ticehurst.

    2. Sarah Fishenden was baptised on 3 December 1654 in Ticehurst.  She may have married John Styles on 4 February 1677/8 in Ticehurst.

  4. Thomas Fissenden provided surety on the issue of a marriage licence on 11 April 1685 between John Austen and Elizabeth Moore.  Thomas then said to be a Fellmonger of Rye and John a Fellmonger of Peasmarsh.  Elizabeth was a spinster of Rye.  On 2 March 1674/5 a Sarah Austin married Jarvis Fisenden in Wadhurst.  Earlier on 8 February 1612/3 a William Austen married Elizabeth Fissenden at St. Clements in Hastings.
