Thomas MARCHANT (1724-?)

and Mary NOKES (?-?)

Thomas Marchant and Mary Nokes married on 13 July 1748 in Salehurst, Sussex.  (They were not my direct ancestors.)

Thomas Marchant was baptised on 19 March 1723/4 in Ticehurst, Sussex.  He was the son of Thomas Marchant and Mary Kempe (?-1744).  On 21 August 1738 he began a 7 year Apprenticeship with Francis Daw a Cordwainer of Robertsbridge in Salehurst.

Mary Nokes may have been baptised on 20 August 1728 in Ticehurst, and have been the daughter of John Nokes and Anne.  Or she may have been baptised as Mary Ann Nokes on 28 September 1729 in Salehurst as the daughter of William Nokes and Elizabeth.
