William Mansell and Ann Apted married by
licence on 15 September 1791 in West Grinstead, Sussex. He was a
bachelor of Henfield and she a spinster of West Grinstead. (They
were not my direct ancestors.)
William Mansell was baptised on 12 November 1769 in
Henfield, Sussex. He was the son of Thomas Mansell
and Elizabeth Banfield. William died aged 75
years and was buried on 11 April 1845 in Henfield. The burial
register noted he was from Woodmancote.
Ann Apted was born about 1767. She died aged 78
years and was buried on 1 February 1845 in Henfield. Might she
have been baptised on 25 May 1769 in Ashington, Sussex, the daughter of
Richard Apted and Mary?
At the time of the 1841 census William was a 70 year old farmer and he was
living at Eton Thorn in Woodmancote, along with 70 year old Ann
Mansell, 16 year old Isaiah Mansell and 50
year old Elizabeth Browning.
William Mansell and Ann Apted had 6 known children:

He married twice, firstly to
Lucy Bray in 1817
and then Elizabeth

Charlotte Mansell was baptised on 18 September 1796 in Henfield.

Mansell was baptised on 20 September 1801 in Henfield.
Mansell was baptised on 18 May 1806 in Henfield. Henry
died aged 26 years and was buried on 29 January 1833 in Henfield.
Henry married Sarah Dale by banns on 28 January 1826 in
Brighton. He was a bachelor and she a spinster and they were both
Henry and Sarah had the following children:
Henry Mansell was born about September 1828. He died
aged 5 months and was buried on 9 January 1829 in Henfield.
The burial register noted his parents were from Brighton.
Alfred Mansell was baptised on 11 April 1830 in Brighton.
The baptism register noted his father was a labourer of Richmond
Elizabeth Mansell was born on 31 August 1811 and baptised on 29
September 1811 in Henfield.
