William MANSBRIDGE (1572-?)

and Mary (c1575-1655)

 

William Mansbridge and Mary Sm---- were my 10x Great Grandparents.  They married on 26 September 1597 in Earnley, Sussex.  William may have previously married Elizabeth Burrishe on 9 October 1594 in Earnley.

William Mansbridge was baptised on 15 May 1572 in Earnley.  He was the son of William Mansbridge (c1540-1594) and Annis Connin (c1550-c1574).  Might he or his son have been buried on 10 April 1625 or 26 May 1629?  Both burials took place in Earnley.

Mary Sm---'s date and place of birth/baptism are unknown, to me.  She may have been buried on 18 April 1655 in Earnley, but the burial register only records that she was widow Mansbridge.

 

William Mansbridge and Mary had 9 known children:

  1. John Mansbridge was baptised on 27 September 1598 in Earnley and buried there on 28 September 1598.

  2. William Mansbridge was baptised on 11 April 1600 in Earnley.

  3. Marie Mansbridge was baptised on 21 November 1602 in Earnley.

  4. Nicholas Mansbridge, my 9x Great Grandfather, was baptised on 24 March 1604/5 in Earnley.  He married Mary.  (They have their own page.)

  5. George Mansbridge was baptised on 12 January 1606/7 in Earnley and buried there on 11 January 1607/8.

  6. Henry Mansbridge was baptised on 17 December 1608 in Earnley.  He may have been the Henry Mansbridge who signed the 1641/2 Protestation Return in East Wittering.

    Henry married Elizabeth Willston on 23 June 1640 in Earnley.

    Henry and Elizabeth had 4 known children:

    1. Henry Mansbridge was baptised on 10 December 1643 in Earnley.

    2. John Mansbridge was baptised on 10 May 1647 in Earnley.

    3. William Mansbridge was baptised on 5 November 1650 in Earnley.

    4. Thomas Mansbridge was born on 5 November 1655 and his birth was registered in the Earnley parish register.

  7. Margaret Mansbridge was baptised on 6 March 1610/11 in Earnley.

  8. Joane Mansbridge was baptised on 25 May 1613 in Earnley.

  9. Elizabeth Mansbridge was baptised on 20 October 1615 in Earnley.  The baptism register at first recorded her name as Ales but this was crossed out and amended to Elizabeth.  She was buried on 29 July 1642 in Earnley and the burial register recorded that she was the daughter of Gulielmi Mansbridge.
