William LILLIAT (1861-?)

and Fanny Jane HEMSLEY (1866-?)

 

William Lelliott and Fanny Jane Hemsley married in the fourth quarter of 1887 in the Lewes registration district.  (They were not my direct ancestors.)

William Lelliott was born in the third quarter of 1861 in Ditchling, Sussex.

Fanny Jane Hemsley was born in the fourth quarter of 1866 in the Lewes registration district and baptised on 24 February 1867 in Wivelsfield, Sussex.  She was the daughter of James Hemsley and Sarah.

In 1891 William and Fanny together with 3 children were living at 42 Ashford Square in Eastbourne, Sussex.  William was then a 29 year old policeman and Fanny Jane was 24.  They both gave their place of birth as Ditchling.

In 1901 the family were living at 104 Tidewell Road in Eastbourne.  William was a 39 year old night watchman and gave his place of birth as Ditchling.  Fanny was 34 and said she was born in Wivelsfield.  With them on census night were their 3 daughters and 36 year old boarder Alfred E. Lloyd.

 

Fanny Jane Hemsley had 1 known son:

  1. James Mortemore Hemsley was born in the first quarter of 1885 in Wivelsfield, Sussex.  He was 6 years old in 1891 and the census recorded his name as James Mortimer Lelliott.

 

William Lelliott and Fanny Jane Hemsley had 3 known children:

  1. Elizabeth Amy Agnes Lelliott was born about 1889 in Burgess Hill or Ditchling, Sussex.  She was 2 years old in 1891 and her place of birth was given as Burgess Hill.  In 1901 she was a 12 year old scholar and she was said to have been born in Ditchiling.

  2. Edith Mary Lelliott was born in 1890 in Eastbourne.  At the time of the 1891 census she was 7 months old.  She was a 10 year old scholar in 1891.

  3. Gladys M. Lelliott was born about 1896 in Eastbourne.  She was a 5 year old scholar in 1901.

 

 

James Lelliott and Louisa had the following child:

  1. Rhoda Lelliott was baptised on 2 May 1852 in Wivelsfield.

 

James Lelliott and Jane Holder had the following children:

  1. Mary Jane Lelliott was baptised on 31 May 1868 in Wivelsfield.

  2. Elizabeth Eliza Harriet Lelliott was baptised on 30 March 1873 in Wivelsfield.
