William LILLIOT
(1777-?)
and Mary HAMMOND (c1780-?)

William Lilliot
and
Mary Hammond married on 17 May 1804 at the parish church of
Holy Sepulchre in Warminghurst, Sussex. (They
were not my direct ancestors. William was the great nephew of my 6x
great grandfather.)
William Liliot was privately baptised on 23 October 1777 in Ashurst,
Sussex.
He was the son of
Peter Lilliot
(1732-1803) and Queen
Stringer (1737-1828).
Mary Hammond's date and place of birth/baptism are unknown, to me.
When the 1841 census was recorded William and Mary were living in
Washington, Sussex, along with his elder brother Richard Lelliott.
William was then earning his living as an agricultural labourer.
William was still living in Washington in 1851 and he was then a 73 year old
widower and a mole catcher.
William Lilliot and Mary
Hammond had 6 known children:
-
Mary Lilliot was baptised on 9 June 1805 in Ashurst.
-
William Lilliot was baptised on 5 April 1807 in Ashurst.
He married Elizabeth Stenning
in 1834. (They have their own page.)
-
Sarah Lilliot was baptised on 23 April 1809 in Ashurst.
-
John Lilliott was baptised on 26 May
1811 in Ashurst. He died aged 83 years and his death was registered
as John Lelliott in the first quarter of 1895 in the Thakeham
registration district.
John married
Eleanor Lilliott in the fourth quarter of 1845 in the Thakeham
registration district.
When the 1861 census was recorded the couple were living at Toll Gate in
Washington, Sussex. In 1871 they were at Longberry, Warminghurst,
Sussex and John was a woodman. They were still at Longberry in 1881.
The 1891 census records that the couple were living on Heath Common in
Warminghurst along with 62 year old visitor,
Jane Lelliott
who was a widow.
Eleanor was baptised on 26 June 1803 in Ashurst and was the daughter of
Peter Lilliot
(1761-1842) and
Mary Ozzever (c1765-1846). She died aged 88 years and
her death was registered in the second quarter of 1891 in the Thakeham
registration district.
-
Ann Lelliott was baptised on 19 September 1813 in Ashurst.
-
Edward Lilliot was baptised on 17 September 1815 in Ashurst.
He married Jane Gocher in 1837.
