Thomas LELIOT
(1560-1600)
and Alice BRIDGER (c1560-1637)

Thomas Leliot and Alice Bridger married on
14 October 1582 in Felpham, Sussex.
Thomas Leliet may have been baptised on 27 February 1560 in Aldingbourne,
Sussex and have been the son of
Thomas Leliet. The baptism register noted that his father was Thomas junior and he was from Lydsey.
As Thomas Leliot he was buried on 27 May 1600 in Felpham
and the burial register noted that he was a weaver.
Alice Bridger's date and place of birth/baptism are
unknown, to me.
As Alice Leliot she may have married Thomas Burrie
on 26 November 1601 in Felpham. Thomas had previously married
Alice Stente on 21 July 1600 in Felpham. Alice was buried on
30 September 1601 in Felpham, 5 days after her infant son was buried.
Thomas may have been buried on 11 June 1608 in Felpham.
As Alice Burry, widow, she was most probably buried on 24
June 1637 in Felpham.
Thomas Leliot and Alice Bridger had 7
known children:

Alice Leliot was baptised on 25 October 1584 in Felpham.
Her godparents were Thomas Gawine, Sibill
Gilbanks and Parnell Allington. (Thomas
Gilbanke married Sybil Penyale on 18 January
1579/80 in South Bersted.)
As Alice Liliot she may have married Richard
Huntingford on 28 May 1605 in Westhampnett, or as Alice
Lilliat she may have married Richard Huntingforde
on 2 June 1605 in South Bersted (dates from the Sussex marriage index).
Richard and Alice may have had the following child:

Margrett Hungtingford was baptised on 4 May 1612 in
Lurgashall, Sussex. Only her father's name was recorded in the
baptism register.

Thomas Leliat was baptised on 12 September 1587 in
Felpham. His godparents were Thomas Borden,
Thomas Graie and Joan Gawine. (Thomas
Graie married Rachel Gawine on 12 February
1575/6 in Felpham and/or Dorothy Wats on 23 August 1579
in Aldingbourne. Thomas Gawine married
Joan Walter on 20 July 1567 and/or Joan Singleton
on 26 January 1567/8, both in Felpham.) Thomas Lilliott
of Felpham signed the 1641/2 Protestation Return.
As Thomas Lylliott he married Joan Souton on
7 February 1619/20 in Felpham.
Thomas and Joan had the following children:

Mary Liliotte was baptised on 20 January 1621/2 in
Felpham, the daughter of Thomas. She was buried in Felpham on
24 July 1639 and the burial register noted that she was Mary
daughter of Thomas Lilyotte.

Thomas Lyllyott was baptised on 5 September 1624 in
Felpham, the son of Thomas. He may have been buried on 18
August 1632 in Felpham. The burial register only recorded that
Thomas Lilliott was buried.

Joan Lilliott was baptised on 19 May 1632 in
Felpham, the daughter of Thomas and Joan. She was buried in
Felpham on 22 June 1634 and the burial register noted that she was
Joan daughter of Thomas Lilyote.

Alice Lylyote was baptised on 19 Febuary 1636/7 in
Felpham, the daughter of Thomas and Joan. She was buried in
Felpham on 29 December 1643 and the burial register noted that she
was the daughter of Thomas and Joan.

Richard Leliot was baptised on 24 January 1589/90 in
Felpham. His godparents were Richard Knight,
William Leliot and Christian Leliot.
(Richard Knyght married Katherine Leliet
on 20 June 1565 in Aldingbourne.) His most probably died young.

Agnes Leliot was baptised on 21 April 1594 in Felpham.
Her godparents were Agnes Monerie, Agnes Reade
and Peter Arnold. (William Monerye
married Agnes Davye on 12 June 1592/3 in South Bersted.
Peter Arnolde married Agnes Monerie on
10 November 1594 in Felpham.)
As Agnes Liliot she may have married John Whit
on 27 February 1618/9 in West Itchenor, Sussex.

John Leliot was baptised on 16 March 1596/7 in Felpham.
His godparents were Thomas Brabie, Richard
Leliot and Helen Irishe. (Thomas
Braby married Alice Bridger, widow on 18
August 1593 in Yapton. Helen Irish married
John Stocke by licence dated 6 July 1597.)
John Lilliott of Felpham signed the 1641/2 Protestation
Return.
As John Lilliott he married Joan Wiatt
on 6 November 1631 in Felpham.
John and Joan had the following child:

Alice Lilliott was baptised on 15 August 1632 in
Felpham, the daughter of John and Jone. As Alice
Mileman she may have been buried on 3 November 1668 in
Felpham.
As Alice Liliott she may have married Henry
Mildman on 1 May 1665 in Felpham.
Henry and Alice had the following child:

Alice Mileman was buried as an infant with her
mother on 3 November 1668 in Felpham.

Katherine Leliot was baptised on 13 June 1599 in
Felpham. One of her godparents was Katherine Knighte.
A Pagham and Tarring Peculiar marriage licence was issued on 11 May 1635
to Katherine Lilliatt and Thomas Hammond,
which noted that she was a spinster and he a husbandman and they were
both from Eartham, Sussex. They married on the same day at St.
Olave in Chichester, Sussex.
Thomas Hamman of Eartham signed the 1641/2 Protestation
Return.

Richard Leliot was baptised on 3 February 1600 in
Felpham. His godparents were Richard Leache,
Thomas Wiat from Ancelton and Lettuce Wildes.
He may have been buried as Richard Lilliott on 24 April
1669 in Felpham. (Richard Leache married
Beatrice Ireland on 27 July 1600 in Felpham.
Lettice Wildes married Robert Bridger on 10
April 1600 in Felpham.)
Richard's name does not appear in the list of Felpham males over the age
of 18 who signed the Protestation Return of 1641/2, and it was noted
that all males of the parish had signed the return. Nor did he
sign the Barham, Middleton or Yapton returns, which again it was noted
in all that all males had signed. The South Bersted return is
missing.
Thomas Burrie and Alice Bridger had 2 known children:

Martha Burrie was baptised on 23 September 1602 in
Felpham. Her godparents were Joan Abiasse,
Joan Walker and John Walker. (William
Abiasse married Joan Gilbanks on 10 August
1601 in Felpham.) She was buried as Martha Biggs,
widow, on 24 February 1667/8 in Felpham.
As Martha Burrey she married John Biggs
on 29 June 1628 in Felpham.
John Biggs of Felpham signed the 1641/2 Protestation
Return.
John was buried on 8 January 1663/4 in Felpham.
John and Martha had the following children:

Mary Biggs was baptised on 11 May 1634 in Felpham.

John Biggs was baptised on 24 July 1641 in Felpham.

Emma Burrie was baptised on 9 November 1606 in Felpham.
Her godparents were Thomas Deninge, Alice
Ingeram and Amy Gawen. (Thomas
Duninge married Amy Gawen on 2 February 1606/7
in Felpham.) Amy wife of Richard
Huntingford was buried on 3 April 1648 in Felpham.
As Amy Burry she may have married Richard
Huntingford on 20 October 1635 in Felpham.
Richard Huntingford of Felpham signed the 1641/2
Protestation Return.
Richard and Amy had the following children:

Susanna Huntingford was baptised on 16 April 1637
in Felpham and buried there on 1 November 1637.

Agnes Huntingford was baptised on 22 March 1640 in
Felpham and buried there on 26 March 1642.
-
Ann Huntingfoard was baptised on 17 March 1643/4 in
Felpham.
-
Agnes Huntingford was buried in April 1647 in
Felpham. The burial register (transcript) noted that she was
the daughter of Richard and Ann.
