they were both of New Shoreham.
Jane was born about 1811/2 in Sunderland, Durham.
The 1841 census records that 35 year old Henry Lelliott
and his 29 year old wife Jane were living in Buckingham
Street, New Shoreham, along with their 5 daughters. He was then a
bargeman.
In 1851, Henry was a 46 year old bargeman and gave his
place of birth as Henfield. Jane was 42 and said she was born in
Sunderland, Durham. The couple and their 9 children were living in
Little Pond House, New Shoreham.
Henry again said he was born in Henfield in the 1861 census and this time he was a 66 year old bargeman,
i.e. born about 1795. Jane was then said to have been 49 years old
and said she was born in Sunderland, Durham. The couple were
living in Church Street, New Shoreham along with 4 of their children.
In 1871, Henry was 77 years old, born in Henfield and a bargeman.
Jane was then 60. They were living in Cavendish Place, New
Shoreham along with their 2 sons Henry and Thomas.
Henry and Jane had the following children:

Shoreham and baptised there at the Countess of Huntingdon's chapel on 23
February 1835. She was 8 years old in 1841. The 1851 census
records that Betsey Lelliott was 19 years old.

and baptised there at the Countess of Huntingdon's chapel on 23 February
1835. She was 6 years old in 1841. In 1851 she was said to
have been 14 years old.

She was 5 years old in 1841. In 1851 she was said to have been 15
years old.

When the 1851 census was recorded he was 5 months old. In 1861 he
was 10 years old.

William Lelliott was baptised on 19 May 1799 in Henfield.
He died aged 87 years in Small Dole and was buried on 16 November 1885
in Upper Beeding. When the 1881 census was recorded he was an 81
year old widower and living alone in Small Dole. His place of
birth was then recorded as Henfield and he was a late agricultural
labourer.
William married Sarah Keywood on 4 December 1824 in Henfield.
Sarah was born about 1802 and was the daughter of William Keywood
and Ann. She died/was buried on 28 September 1843 in
Henfield.
When the 1841 census was recorded the family were living in Stone Pit,
Henfield (next door to his parents) and William was a 40 year old
bargeman. In 1851, William was a 49 year old widower and bargeman,
living in Small Dole with 2 of his daughters. Their next door
neighbours were the family of

Caplin.
