and Lucy NASH (1848-1932)

Henry Lilliott
and
Lucy Nash married on 4 November 1876 at the parish church in Colgate,
Sussex. The witnesses to their marriage were H. W.
Elliott and Dorcas Lilliott who was Henry's sister.
(They were not my direct ancestors.)
Henry Lelliott was born on 12 December 1851 in Woodmancote, Sussex
and baptised there in the parish church of St. Peter on 18 January 1852.
The baptism register records that his father was a farmer. He was the
son of Henry
Lilliot (1808-1890) and
Jane Stringer
(c1829-?). Henry died on 29 October 1920 at Milton Street in Sussex
and his cause of death was Carcinoma (Rectum) 7 months. His cousin
Frank Page registered the death and was also present at Henry's death.
When the 1861 census was recorded Henry was 9 years old and living with his
parents in Billingshurst, Sussex.
Lucy Nash was born on 1 July 1848 in Privett, Hampshire. She
was the daughter of Moses Nash (c1818-?) and Elizabeth Nash
(c1822-?). Lucy died on 4 January 1932 at Crossways in Hellingly,
Sussex. Her cause of death was Cardiac Failure and Senility and was
registered by her daughter Lucy M. Simmonds who was also
present at the death.
At the time of the 1881 census the couple and their 3 daughters were living
in Crutchfield Cottage in Charlwood, Surrey. Henry was then an
agricultural labourer. In 1891 the family were living at Milton Street
and Henry was a farm labourer. The couple and their daughter Lucy were
still living in Milton Street in 1901.

Nash had 6 known children:

Edith Lilliott was born about 1877 in Brighton, Sussex. She
was 4 years old in 1881.

Lucy May Lilliott was born about 1878 in Ifield, Sussex. She
was 3 years old in 1881. In 1891 she was a 14 year old general
domestic servant in Alfriston in the home of John H. Jones
and his wife Kate. The 1901 census records that she was an
unmarried 23 year old general servant and the only one of her siblings
living at home.
Lucy married Charles Simmonds.

Dorcas Lilliott was born on 23 January 1880 in Charlwood, Surrey.
She died on 18 February 1970 in Alfriston, Sussex and her cause of death
was Cerebral Haemorage and Atrerio-sclerosis. She was buried with
her husband at St. Andrew's in Alfriston. In 1881 she was a year
old. She was 11 years old in 1891 and the eldest of her siblings
living at home.
Dorcas married Harry Page on 2 April 1898 in Arlington, Sussex.
Harry was born in 1867 in Wilmington, Sussex and was the son of James
Page and Sarah Aucock (1836-1932). He died in 1955.

Henry Moses Lilliott was baptised on 11 June 1882 in Lullington,
Sussex. He was an 8 year old scholar in 1891. In 1901 he was
an 18 year old servant at The Forge in Alfriston in the home of Louisa
Woolgar.

Elizabeth Lilliott was baptised on 26 October 1884 in Lullington.
She was a 6 year old scholar in 1891. In 1901 she was a 16 year old
general domestic servant in the home of Edward Ellman at the
Rectory in Berwick.
Elizabeth married Edward Charles Fayet (also Fayette)
in the fourth quarter of 1909 in the Lewes registration district.
Edward was born in Switzerland.

Frank Lilliott was baptised on 3 July 1887 in Lullington. In
1891 he was 3 years old.

Sarah Aucock died aged 96 years on 4 February 1932 in Berwick,
Sussex.
