Edward LELLIOTT (1853-?)

and Annie Maria MARDELL (c1854-?)

 

Edward Lelliott and Annie Maria Mardell married in the fourth quarter of 1875 in the Camberwell registration district.

Edward Lelliott was born in the third quarter of 1853 in Peckham, London.  His birth was registered in the Camberwell registration district. He was the son of Henry Lelliott (c1822-?) and Harriet.  When the 1871 census was recorded Edward was a 17 year old packer living with his parents and siblings at 34 Daniel's Road in Camberwell.

Annie Maria Mardell was born about 1853-5 in Islington or Clerkenwell, London.

When the 1881 census was recorded the couple and their 2 children were living at 35 Daniel's Road in Camberwell and Edward was a labourer.  They were sharing the house with the Wright family and living at number 34 was Edward's parents and younger siblings.  In 1891 the family were living at 95 London Road, Camberwell and Edward was a church grave digger.  By 1901 the family had moved to 79 Daniel's Road in Camberwell and Edward was still a grave digger.

 

Edward Lelliott and Annie Maria Mardell  had 6 known children:

  1. Alfred Henry Lelliott was born in the fourth quarter of 1877 in Camberwell.  He was 3 years old in 1881.  In 1891 he was a 13 year old scholar.

  2. Thomas Lelliott was born about 1880 in Camberwell.  In 1881 he was a year old.  He was an 11 year old scholar in 1891.  In 1901 he was a 21 year old plasterer's labourer and the eldest of his siblings living at home.

  3. Edith Lelliott was born about 1883 in Camberwell.  She was an 8 year old scholar in 1891.  In 1901 she was 18 years old and working in a gum or glue factory.

  4. Edward Ernest Lelliott was born in the third quarter of 1888 in Camberwell.  In 1891 he was 2 years old.  The 1901 census records that he was a 12 year old newspaper boy, living with his parents and siblings at 79 Daniel's Road.

    As Edward Albert Lelliott he married Emily Jane Ransom in the third quarter of 1909 in the Camberwell registration district.

    The family emigrated to Ontario, Canada in about 1914.

    Edward and Emily had the following known child:

    1. Edward Ernest Lelliott was born on 1 November 1911 at 79 Daniel's Road, Peckham.

  5. Clara Annie E. Lelliott was born in the first quarter of 1890 in Camberwell.  She was a year old when the 1891 census was recorded.  In 1901 she was 11 years old.

    Clara married Percy S. Harris in the third quarter of 1913 in the Camberwell registration district.

  6. Ada Emily Lelliott was born in the first quarter of 1892 in Camberwell.  In 1901 she was a 9 year old.

    Ada married Augustus H. Hollis in the third quarter of 1915 in the Lewisham registration district.

Henry Lelliott may have married Harriet Sidseltun in the third quarter of 1845 in the Worthing regsitration district. Or Harriet Farhall in the second quarter of 1846 in the Worthing registration district.  Henry may have been baptised on 2 December 1821 the son of Henry and Susanna Lelliott, or on 9 September 1822 the son of Henry and Sarah Lelliott.  Both baptisms took place in Brighton.
