John LANGRIDGE (c1590-?)

and Rody TAYLER (c1590-1619)

and/or Bridget HOMER (c1600-?)

John Langridge and Rody Tayler or Bridget Homer may have been my 10x Great Grandparents.  John Langridg married Rode Tayler on 29 September 1616 in East Grinstead, Sussex.  He or another John Langridge married Bridget Homer by licence on 9 June 1622 in Twineham, Sussex.  Their marriage licence was issued by the Archdeaconry of Lewes on 30 May 1622 and recorded that John was a husbandman of East Grinstead and Bridget a spinster of Twineham.  Sponsors of the licence were John himself and John Homer a husbandman of East Grinstead.  There was also the marriage of a John Langride of East Grinstead and Jane Person on 2 May 1627 in Twineham.

John Langrige may have been baptised on 16 September 1582, but unfortunately his parents were not named in the baptism register.  Or as John Langridg on 6 December 1590 the son of John Langridg (c1560-1646) and Bridget (c1570-1648), but they both left wills and neither mentioned a son John. Or as John Langrige on 10 June 1593, the son of Edward Langrige and Johanne Terrie.  All the baptisms took place in East Grinstead.  The East Grinstead burial register records that a John Langridge was buried on 11 April 1648.

Rody Tayler's date and place of birth/baptism are unknown, to me.  The IGI records that a Rhoda Tailor was baptised on 1 October 1581 at St. Mary Cray in Orpington, Kent, the daughter of Robert Tailor.  (Orpington to East Grinstead is just under 30 miles.)  She was buried on 26 December 1619 in East Grinstead and the burial register record that she was Rody wife of John Langridge.

Bridget Homer's date and place of birth/baptism are unknown, to me.  Bridget may have been buried on 19 January 1636 in East Grinstead.

John Langridge and Rody Tayler had 2 known children:

  1. John Langridg was baptised on 15 June 1617 in East Grinstead.  In the baptism register his mother's name was spelt Rhode.

  2. Henry Langridge was baptised on 26 December 1619 in East Grinstead.  His mother's name was spelt Rode.

John Langridge and Bridget Homer had 3 known children:

  1. John Langridg was baptised on 18 May 1624 in East Grinstead.

  2. An Langridg was baptised on 14 May 1627 in East Grinstead.

  3. Robert Langridg was baptised on 29 June 1636 in East Grinstead.

My possible 9x Great Grandfather was John Langridge who married Alice Feldwick in 1642.  (They have their own page.)  Was he one of the above John's?

HOMER          LANGRIDGE          TAYLOR
