William KNOWLES (c1675-1737)

and Elizabeth TILT (1677-?)

 

William Knouls and Elizabeth Tilt may have been my 7x Great Grandparents.  5 138 (Click here to see their possible place in my pedigree chart.)  They married on 16 June 1700 at the parish church of St. Mary's in Slaugham, Sussex.  He was then of Cuckfield.

William Knowles date and place of birth/baptism are unknown, to me.  He may have been buried as William Knowls on 26 May 1737 in Cuckfield, Sussex but the burial could refer to a son or grandson or someone else.

Elizabeth Tilt may have been baptised on 29 April 1677 in Worth, Sussex, the daughter of William Tilt and Susan Turner.

 

William Knowles and Elizabeth Tilt had 4 or 5 known children:

  1. William Knowles was born on 7 September and baptised on 2 October 1702 in Cuckfield, Sussex.  He may have been my 6x Great Grandfather.  William married Elizabeth Purvey in 1722.  (They have their own page.)

  2. Ann Knowles was baptised on 6 June 1704 in Cuckfield.

  3. Elizabeth Knowles was baptised on 4 September 1706 in Cuckfield.

  4. Sarah Knowles was baptised on 6 May 1709 in Cuckfield.

  5. John Knowles may have been born about 1710.
