Thomas KING
(1721-1801)
and Ann TUTT (1730-1794)

Thomas King and Ann Tutt were my 6x Great Grandparents.
(Click
here
to see their place in my pedigree chart.) They married on 25 December
1748 at the parish church of St. Bartholomew in Burwash, Sussex.
Thomas King was baptised on 6 March 1720/1 in Burwash. He was the
son of
Thomas King
(1687-1750) and
Mary Austen Foster (c1700-1749). There was another
Thomas King baptised in Burwash on 29 July 1722, the son of
William King
and Elizabeth, but he died as an infant. Thomas died aged 80
years and buried on 21 November 1801 in Burwash. The burial register
records that he was a weaver from the Common. Thomas was appointed the
sole executor of his father's will, by which he was to inherit his father's
cottage buildings in Burwash.
Ann Tutt was baptised on 11 June 1730
at the parish church of St. Mary the Virgin in Warbleton, Sussex. She
was the daughter of
Stephen
Tutt (1685-?) and
Sarah Glyd
(1691-?). Ann was buried on 26 June 1794 in Burwash and the burial
register records that she was the wife of Thomas King a weaver from
the Common. She was mentioned in her brother
John Tutt's will
of 1792, by which she received forty pounds. Her 3 unnamed daughters
also received ten pounds each. Her son Thomas was not mentioned
in her brother's will, although 3 of their nephews did receive legacies.
