Thomas KING (1622-1704)

and Mary CAMPANY (c1625-1700)

Thomas Kinge and Mary Campany married on 17 September 1647 in Brightling, Sussex.

Thomas King may have been baptised on 7 October 1622 in Dallington, Sussex, and have been the son of John Kinge.  He may have been buried on 28 March 1704 in Burwash and have left a will which was proved in Lewes.

Mary Campany's date and place of birth/baptism are unknown, to me.  Mary King, wife (rather than widow) was buried on 17 August 1700 in Burwash.  Might she have been baptised as Mary Cimpeyney on 25 March 1623 in Ticehurst, Sussex, the daughter of Leonard Campeney (1593-?) and Elizabeth?

Thomas King and Mary Campany had 4 known children:

  1. Thomas King was baptised on 13 August 1648 in Dallington.  Only his father's name was recorded in the baptism register.  He married Elizabeth Palmer in 1673.  (They have their own page.)

  2. Elizabeth Kinge was baptised on 4 May 1651 in Burwash.  Only her father's name was recorded in the baptism register.

  3. Mary King was baptised on 5 November 1652 in Burwash.  Only her father's name was recorded in the baptism register.

  4. John Kinge was born on 4 February 1657/8 in Burwash.  The birth/baptism register records that he was the son of Thomas and Mary.

Did they also have a son named James King who married Ann Hail in Burwash in 1677?
