John KING (1726-?)

and Sarah WATSON (c1730-?)

John King and Sarah Watson married on 14 January 1754 in Salehurst, Sussex.

John King may have been baptised on 5 or 8 May 1726 in Salehurst and have been the son of James King and Sarah Chambers.  However, there was also a John King baptised on 5 November 1726 in Burwash, the son of Thomas King and Mary Austen Foster, but that John died a bachelor at the age of 84.  Another John King was baptised on 21 December 1729 in Ewhurst, the son of John King and Mary Tree.

Sarah Watson's date and place of birth/baptism are unknown, to me.

John King and Sarah Watson had 5 known children:

  1. James King was baptised on 20 April 1755 in Salehurst.  He may have married Sarah Avard in 1781, but he did have a cousin James born in 1759.

  2. Sarah King was baptised on 12 or 18 September 1756 in Salehurst.

  3. Ann King was baptised on 16 April 1758 in Salehurst.

  4. Mary King was baptised 15 May 1759 in Salehurst and buried there on 19 May 1759.

  5. Mary King was baptised on 28 September 1760 in Salehurst.  She most probably had an illegitimate son:

    1. John King was baptised on 27 January 1782 in Salehurst.
